Drunk Indiana man marched into IHOP with a gun, then he accused one of the cooks of sleeping with his wife

Nothing says breakfast like shooting your own pants.

An Indiana man who allegedly stormed into an IHOP, armed with a gun, in a drunken rage has been arrested and is facing a long list of charges. The man reportedly accused one of the chefs working in the restaurant of sleeping with his wife and fired the gun before chasing the chef with a knife.

28-year-old Austen Wable of Munice, Indiana, was charged with multiple felony counts, three of which were level five and three of which were level six, according to WXIN. The counts were for criminal recklessness, intimidation with a deadly weapon, unlawful carrying of a handgun, pointing a firearm, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, and OWI: Endangering a person. He was also charged with misdemeanour counts of resisting law enforcement and DWS.

Wable allegedly stormed into the IHOP armed with a gun, which he used to threaten one of the cooks in the kitchen. One witness told officers that the suspect was “extremely drunk” when he entered the establishment.

He then reportedly began pushing the cook, shouting at him, and accusing him of sleeping with his wife. “You f—ed my b—h, bro,” Wable allegedly said before pointing the gun at him. When witnesses tried to intervene and de-escalate the situation, the gun went off and apparently struck Wable in the leg.

Witnesses claimed to have seen a hole in the back of his pants from the bullet wound, and Wable reportedly told people in the IHOP, “I’m leaking.” Cops later confirmed that he had indeed been shot.

Wable allegedly chased the IHOP cook with a knife

Despite his injury, Wable continued to shout at the cook, eventually ending with him chasing the cook around the parking lot outside with a knife. It’s unclear whether Wable had brought the knife with him to the restaurant or not.

The suspect then fled the scene in his wife’s SUV. Law enforcement was able to use Flock cameras to track the vehicle down. Although a traffic stop was initiated, Wable did not stop his car, and a high-speed police chase ensued, during which Wable reached 110 mph. Wable’s reckless driving led to several near misses, and his vehicle reportedly even went airborne for a brief moment.

Eventually, the chase ended in a crash. When Wable exited the vehicle, he “began stumbling to his right, seeming disoriented.” Cops used a taser to subdue him after he allegedly failed to listen to their commands.

Wable refused to answer questions, according to documents, and is currently being held without bond until his bond hearing.
