‘Don’t trust it’: Woman orders Tropical Smoothie on DoorDash. Then she notices something disturbing about her chocolate drink
Finding something questionable in your DoorDash order is enough to think twice. What was once a convenient alternative is turning into a game of tampering roulette.
For example, one woman’s DoorDash driver admitted to helping herself to the missing chicken wings. If scrolling through countless stories online isn’t enough, a 2022 survey reported by Retail Brew revealed that 79% of delivery drivers confessed to sneaking bites out of customers’ meals. This was compared to 28% in 2019.
Now, it seems beverages aren’t safe from temptation. One woman suspects her DoorDash driver enjoyed her chocolate Tropical Smoothie.
Why Does This Tropical Smoothie Drink Look Like That?
In a nine-second clip, TikTok creator Lena (@beautiispassion) shows her Tropical Smoothie drinks in the cardboard carrier she ordered through DoorDash. One is strawberry and the other chocolate. When she pans over to them, her strawberry drink appears ordinary and filled to the brim. However, the chocolate is only about 75% full.
“Should I trust that my smoothies didn’t come with the stickers that go over [them] so nobody drinks [them]?” she asks over 327,000 viewers.
All of these suspicions are leading her to the conclusion that her driver may have something to do with it.
“Did DoorDash drink my chocolate smoothie from [Smoothie King?????]” she questions in the text overlay.
Viewers Are Disgusted
“I Uber Eats somebody tropical smoothie the other day and they also didn’t put a stick sticker on top, but that chocolate one does look suspiciously low,” one viewer commented.
“It [looks] tampered with,” a second agreed.
“The chocolate one was definitely taste tested. The driver said mmmh that’s good,” a third stated.
“Do not drink it,” a fourth warned.
“The chocolate one looks tampered with. The underside of the lid has product on it which means the smoothie was filled to the top,” a fifth noted.
What Happens If DoorDash Drivers Tamper With Your Order?
DoorDash requires its drivers to follow food protocols. Those who violate the safety, quality, or integrity of food are at risk for removal. This includes:
- Opening sealed food (i.e., tampering)
- Contaminating the food
- Not following allergy instructions
What About Contaminated Drinks?
Regardless if you share beverages with loved ones or strangers, you should probably reconsider. Saliva can transfer all kinds of illnesses into the contents through backwashing, though some bacteria may linger on the rim and straw.
Therefore, merely using the same cup as someone is just as dicey. When you take a sip through the same cup as someone, you’re exposing yourself to different types of microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites like the common cold, meningitis, COVID-19, and more, per HuffPost.
