Ordering delivery is intended to be a convenient alternative to going out. At your fingertips, you can order whatever you’re craving without ever leaving your house. Because we’re working with humans, there’s room for errors and mistakes to happen. In this woman’s case, her DoorDash driver admitted to being the culprit behind her missing chicken wings.

DoorDash customer Shamel (@shamel.sequoya) shares the incident through a slideshow. The first photo is a selfie of her in bed, face-palming, setting the tone of the situation. “Sometimes, you just gotta read your doordasher’s text and just go on with your day,” she expresses in the text overlay.

What Did The DoorDash Driver Do?

Then, the second photo is a screenshot of the said conversation between her and her DoorDash driver named Audrey. Apparently, there was a hiccup in the delivery since the content creator reached out to the driver afterward. “Where are my wings? You only delivered the pizza,” she says in two separate messages.

But Audrey denied this, claiming she only received the pizza. “Well, the order was pizza AND wings! I thought you can see what the order is for and make sure you get the entire order,” Shamel replied, followed by. “But it’s fine! I’ll contact DoorDash.”

However, the driver wasn’t fazed, retorting, “Okay, bet.” After the content creator echoed the same response, Audrey exposed how unbothered she was through a picture of her hand holding one of the missing chicken wings, which was bitten into, and a diabolical one-word attachment: “Yummy.”

Viewers Are Livid

Shamel’s video amassed over 13 million views, and the simple description sent many in the comments section seething.

“THE ‘YUMMY’ WOULDVE SENT ME OVER THE EDGE,” one viewer commented.

“I would’ve called the person who created DoorDash at this point,” another stated.

“Nahhhh dat woulda made me lose my shiii!” a third remarked.

“DoorDash would’ve been on speed dial,” a fourth said.

But a fifth hoped for retribution. “They don’t know how quick DoorDash finna ban them tho,” they wrote.

Instead, Shamel was allegedly punished for reporting the occurrence. “They banned ME. Gave me a refund that I couldn’t even use,” she answered in the comments section.

A Common Experience?

When there’s food inside a person’s car, the temptation to sneak a bite can be taunting. Even if it doesn’t belong to them, it may be too difficult for them to resist. And it has for over a fourth of food delivery drivers. NPR reported that 30% of those drivers from various food delivery apps have admitted to chowing down on a customer’s order.

For others, the urge is powerful enough to dash and dine. In December, one woman shared how her DoorDash driver stole her seafood boil. Two months later, another woman suspected her Dasher snatched her Chipotle after it never arrived.

DoorDash Requirements For Deactivation

DoorDash highlights in their Community Guidelines the core values they operate on: respect, safety, authenticity, and integrity. In a nutshell, drivers and customers who violate any of these are subject to deactivation. Since Audrey allegedly provided inaccurate information about the delivery (the chicken wings), there is a risk of receiving a Contract Violation (CV). Although a single incident may not result in decativation, severe and constant ones may lead to it. Moreover, Shamel can appeal her removal through the company’s customer support email and number.
