Donald Trump rushes to defend Russia by attacking Fox News—but all he managed to do was make himself look ridiculous

Donald Trump’s second term as president has been characterised by extreme chaos. Since last year, he has waged war against immigrant populations, played a significant role in last year’s government shutdown, led an attack on Americans’ healthcare, and engaged in many other activities. Recently, Trump has become fixated on Iran following the bombshell revelations in the Epstein Files. If you have been following the news in recent days, you would know that on February 28, 2026, the US, in alliance with Israel, launched attacks on Iran, resulting in devastation and casualties. What began as a one-sided assault by the two countries has escalated into a war, with Iran attacking US bases around the world. It wouldn’t be surprising if Iran now directly targets US cities.
Meanwhile, as all this unfolds, people in the US are furious with Donald Trump and his administration for leading the country and its military into an unnecessary war. In recent days, many have condemned the administration’s actions in Iran, but Trump seems unfazed. He continues his actions and defends them, even snapping at those asking questions. For example, during a roundtable event, a Fox News journalist asked Trump whether Russia was helping Iran attack the US, looking to him for answers. Trump did not address the question and dismissed it as “ridiculous.”
In a rare moment, Trump calls out Fox News
The chances of Donald Trump criticising Fox News are slim but not impossible, as he proved recently. During a roundtable discussion, a Fox News reporter asked Trump to comment on the circulating news that Russia was aiding Iran in attacking the US. Trump, who has long been a supporter of Vladimir Putin and Russia, even supporting Russia during the Russia-Ukraine conflict, was visibly irritated and snapped at the reporter.
Fox News journalist’s claims weren’t untrue
Despite Trump’s reaction, the Fox News journalist was speaking from a place of fact. Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Arahchi, recently stated on NBC News’s Meet The Press that Iran and Russia had “a very good partnership.”
Arahchi further said, “A military cooperation between Iran and Russia is not something new. It’s not a secret. It has been in the past, and it’s still there, and will continue in the future.” When asked if Russia was helping Iran attack the US, he responded, “Well, they are helping us in many different directions,” adding, “I don’t have any detailed information.”
