A traveler walks down the terminal and sees rows of brightly lit signs on the walls. Then one advertising a flat-rate divorce attorney catches their eye. Viewers discuss whether the marketing tactic is diabolical or genius.

In a video with over 375,000 views, TikToker JSpeaks (@jspeaks24) shows the Flat Rate Divorces ad in St. Louis Lambert International Airport that reads, “Are you happy to be home?” The wording seemingly targets travelers who are on the way home to see their spouse. The attorney’s photo smiles next to the words.

On-screen text reads, “This ad at the baggage claim at STL Airport is the most diabolical ad placement I’ve ever seen.”

Is the divorce ad ‘diabolical’ or just plain genius?

In the comments, viewers discuss the viral divorce ad. Some say the ad placement could actually influence a traveler to get a divorce.

“As someone who is getting a divorce because I was never happy coming home after my flights, 10000% approve,” a commenter writes.

A second shares, “Bro this ad prompted me to divorce my husband.”

“I see this every time I come home and think, brilliant,” another commenter remarks.

Others say the ad has been in the same spot for years and has become an infamous part of the STL baggage claim. The r/StLouis subreddit even took notice of the ad in a 2025 post.

“I mean…the ad makes a good point. If you’ve been gone for a while and aren’t happy about seeing your spouse, that’s a sign of a problem,” one member of the subreddit says.

Some say the same attorney, Mark Haefner, is known in St. Louis for running creative divorce ads elsewhere.

“Pretty sure he used to run divorce ads during the bachelor/bachelorette. The guy knows timing,” one says.

A second adds, “Has a few billboards too, imagine sitting in standstill traffic and reevaluating your whole life.”

Other businesses get creative with ad placement

Other viewers share the most shocking ad placements they’ve seen.

“There’s a billboard advertising vasectomies right outside Disney world,” one shares, suggesting the doctor could be targeting dads who just spend a whole day with screaming kids at the park.

Another says, “Growing up, there was a romantic depot along the way to a school. You could see it from the highway. The taller hardware store behind it had a sign also facing the highway: ‘Screws and More.'”

There’s a whole subreddit, r/unfortunateplacement, dedicated to both intentional and unintentional shocking ad placements.

One member shows a billboard reading, “Jesus is watching,” placed on the same side of the road as an adult video store.

A second Redditor posts a movie advertisement for “A Million Ways to Die in the West” on the side of a hospital called Westwood Medical.
