Disney California Adventure’s Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Is Full of Artifacts

The Hollywood Reporter‘s Ryan Parker shared some images from the new attraction, which turns what was previous The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror into a Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: Breakout!, which he calls “a whole new ride.”

As a native Californian, the loss of the Tower of Terror is definitely a bit sad. The drop was classic and the lobby full of Twilight Zone references combined with creepy attendants fully committed to their roles made it one of my favorite rides in the park. At the same time, the world of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy come to life sounds irresistible and from the pictures Parker shares, mesmerizing.

The lobby is now the office of the Collector, who you’ll remember was played by Benicio Del Toro in the first film, and the premise is Rocket getting ready to bust the rest of the Guardians out after they’re captured. There are six possible scenarios, so this is a ride you’ll be going on several times, as well as “2,200 different artifacts.”

So does the ride add anything to the Marvel Universe? Gunn says it’s a “separate universe,” from the MCU.

California friends, are you excited to take a ride on Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: Breakout?
