Diddy’s shift from comfortable New Jersey cell to FCI Allenwood Low brings the facility’s alleged inhumane treatment back into the spotlight

On the move.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has moved from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey to FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania. The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed this transfer on Friday, October 16, 2026. This relocation follows a year spent at the New Jersey facility. The move places the 56-year-old music mogul in a location with a history of serious allegations. According to Page Six, Allenwood Low has faced claims of inhumane treatment in the past.

A 2017 lawsuit brought by former inmate Anthony Mammana highlights concerns about the treatment. Mammana accused a prison lieutenant of severe retaliation. He alleged he was confined in a freezing room for four days. This space is commonly called the Yellow Room. Mammana claimed guards stripped him of his usual clothing. He was forced to wear thin, transparent garments while denied blankets, sheets, a pillow, and basic necessities like toilet paper, soap, and towels.

Bright lights remained on around the clock, which prevented him from sleeping. Guards reportedly mocked him during this time. The court agreed that Mammana’s treatment was inhumane. However, a legal technicality prevented him from pursuing damages for the incident.

FCI Allenwood Low also dealt with a separate criminal case in September 2025

The facility previously held prisoners involved in a coordinated assault. Federal prosecutors announced that 17 inmates were indicted. This involved a gang-related conspiracy to assault other prisoners in June 2023. Prosecutors alleged the defendants planned to attack others with dangerous weapons. These included locks and other heavy objects attached to strings, belts, and socks.

Authorities stated the assault stemmed from a turf dispute. The inmates wanted to seize control of the housing unit’s television and telephone areas. Several defendants also faced charges of possessing prohibited weapons inside the prison. This prosecution was part of a Department of Justice (DOJ) initiative.

Diddy’s transfer to Allenwood comes after recent reports of him suffering a head injury at Fort Dix. TMZ had reported that he was involved in a fight with Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke. The Bureau of Prisons (BOP) denied that this fight occurred.

The move also follows claims that Diddy enjoyed a comfortable life at Fort Dix. According to NBC News, four inmates alleged he had access to massages and premium alcohol. They also claimed he had a cellphone while incarcerated. These inmates stated that others helped cook and clean for him. Diddy’s representative pushed back on these specific claims, saying Combs was serving his sentence in accordance with prison rules.

Diddy received a 50-month sentence in October 2025

The disgraced music mogul was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. His legal team is currently appealing his conviction and sentence. The second US circuit court of appeals heard arguments in April. The court has not yet made a ruling on the matter.

Diddy was also placed in the special housing unit following reports of his lifestyle. He lost 41 days of good-conduct credit during this time. This adjustment pushed his projected release date to March 2, 2028.

According to The Guardian, Juda Engelmayer, a spokesperson for Diddy, addressed the recent transfer. He stated, “decisions about inmate placement are made by the BOP, and we are not in a position to speak to the circumstances surrounding this transfer”. He added, “Sean remains focused on moving forward, and we hope that his time at the new facility will be productive and without unnecessary disruption”.

The BOP declined to discuss the specific reasons for the transfer and did not respond to requests for further comment. The shift brings renewed attention to the conditions at Allenwood Low. Many observers look closely at how the facility manages its population. The history of violence and lawsuits creates a complex environment for any inmate.

Nonetheless, Diddy’s current focus is on his ongoing appeal while adjusting to his new surroundings. The legal battle continues as he moves through the federal prison system.
