It takes a lot of guts to ask someone out. It takes even more guts when that person is a celebrity. Well back in February, the Force must have been with Kevin Carlock when he got a group of friends together to film a video in which he asks The Force Awakens‘ Daisy Ridley to accompany him to his school formal.

Carlock is a student at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina, and in the video, he makes the case for why Ridley should consider attending Davidson’s Spring Athlete’s Formal with him in song. A really elaborate song:

OK, he knew it was a long-shot. But points for creativity, right? Well, even cooler than the video is the fact that Ridley has finally seen it and responded! Ever classy and awesome, Ridley took to Instagram to RSVP for formal:

@kevincarlock your video made my day! Can’t believe I only just saw it! Thank you!!!

So sadly, Ridley will not be able to attend. But I’m sure Carlock doesn’t mind – especially since her going would interfere with more Star Wars, and no one wants to do that.

And now this song is gonna be in my head ALL DAY, dammit!
