Daisy Ridley Just Recorded a Duet with Barbra Streisand (!?)

Recommended Videos

Daisy Ridley recently told E! that she would be recording a duet with a “a legendary awe-inspiring jaw-dropping superstar” — and today, she shared a photo of herself with that superstar. It’s Barbra Streisand!

Streisand definitely qualifies as “legendary” — to this day, she holds the record among female recording artists for the most number one albums. So, this is definitely awesome news, but, uh … why exactly is Ridley recording this duet with Streisand? Just for fun? Or for a movie?

Some have speculated that the duet might have something to do with Star Wars 7, since J.J. Abrams has mentioned his love of Daisy Ridley’s singing voice, and he’s even hyped up the forthcoming duet between these two women. Could Streisand be playing the role of a lounge singer in a future Cantina scene? Will Rey take a break from her Jedi training to go indulge in some karaoke?

Probably not — this song might not have anything to do with Star Wars at all. But it’s fun to speculate! And if you want a little peek at what Daisy Ridley’s voice might sound like in her recording(s), here’s a taste — this is a video of Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac singing a few bars of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” together.

Truly heart-melting, no?
