Former FBI Director James Comey, who was fired by Donald Trump ostensibly for his actions on Hillary Clinton’s email investigation during the 2016 campaign, but later Trump mentioned that the investigation into Russia’s election interference was a factor. Today, Comey is testifying before the Senate about a number of things, including private meetings he had with Trump that made him uncomfortable.
It’s the only thing anyone’s watching on the Internet right now, because many people have indicated that Trump’s statements to Comey about dropping his investigation into Mike Flynn could have been obstruction of justice. For his part, Comey won’t make that determination himself, but he already reminded those questioning him this morning that it’s their job to do so.
Go ahead and watch, and grab your popcorn as you wait for the GOP to inevitably not care about any of this. They already made it clear how they felt about the preview of Comey’s testimony.
[Update:]
Comey has now also clarified that, while he did tell Trump that he wasn’t personally under investigation, that can also be “misleading” because Trump’s campaign was involved, so he was tangentially involved and could potentially become involved.
