‘Classic deflection’: Donald Trump is insulting a female journalist again, this time for asking about his MRI results

Donald Trump’s cognitive abilities have been a hot topic of discussion for a long time. Although the President of the United States has repeatedly bragged about passing his medical exams like a kid, people remain unconvinced and want more proof.

Anyone closely observing Donald Trump’s decorum during his second term as President would notice how quick he is to deflect. No matter the question, he finds a way to blame everything on Joe Biden and his administration. If not blaming Biden, Trump targets journalists with harsh comments. This was evident during a recent press interaction on Air Force One, where a female journalist asked if Trump would heed Tim Waltz’s requests to release his MRI results. Trump appeared confused as the interviewer pressed him, asking which part of the body the doctors examined. Trump replied that he did not know which part of the body the MRI was conducted on and added that they weren’t looking at his brain because he took a cognitive test and “aced it” with “a perfect mark.” He then told the newswoman that she wouldn’t be able to achieve the same results. Not stopping there, he turned to another reporter (also a woman) and said, “You too,” implying she wouldn’t either.

Donald Trump’s behaviour toward the female journalists has drawn significant criticism online. On platforms like X (formerly Twitter), many have shared their views. One person wrote:

“It was just an MRI,” then pivoted hard to “It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and aced it.” When pressed, he told her (and pointed at another female reporter) that they’d be “incapable” of passing the same test. Classic deflection, topped with a side of personal jabs.”

Another individual stated:

“Trump’s the one who couldn’t pass a mirror test without screaming “fake news” at his reflection. Dodging a simple MRI question while gaslighting sharp journalists? That’s not deflection—it’s a desperate plea for a full neurological workup. What fresh hell is rotting in that brain?”
