Cats Improve Everything, Including Famous Paintings

Great Artists’ Mews, where have you been all my life?!? It’s safe to say I’m a crazy cat lady but I was made even crazier with a new addition to my household just two days ago so this post is totally relevant to my interests. Hit the jump for not just any cat, but this adorably plump orange creature, deftly inserted into some classical works of art.

First, a note from the cat. “Our name is Zarathustra. We are a cat. According to our assistant (named by ignoramuses as our ‘owner’) We are the best cat in the world. By the will of the gods, We have been relieved of our animal desires, therefore Our postprandial time  is given to the reflections on lofty matters. We are so gracious in Our enjoyment of repasts.” My favorite part about this whole thing is how perfectly the cat’s poses and faces go with each painting. Enjoy!

Leonardo da Vinci, “Mona Lisa”

Salvador Dalí, “Dream”

Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, “Spring”

Anthony van Dyck, “Drunken Silenus”

Diego Velázquez, “Philip IV on Catback”

Claude Monet, “Haystack at Giverny”

Sandro Botticelli, “Pallas and the Cat”

Rembrandt, “Danae”
