Welcome to Pull It Together, where the goal is to narrow the massive field of comic book titles to the ones you shouldn’t overlook. It isn’t about what’s on my pull list, it’s about what could be on yours!
It doesn’t rain, but it pours in this week’s gallery. Captain Marvel’s 100th solo issue! A happily overweight female superhero origin story!
Lumberjanes and The Wicked + The Divine both starting new arcs! Dive on in, true believer.
In the meantime, enjoy the html version below. I guess. If that's your thing.
Batgirl Vol. 4: Wanted Trade Paperback Batgirl struggles to continue fighting crime after the death of her brother, James, Jr. With her relationships with both Batman and her father strained, Batgirl must face one of Batman's most ruthless villains: The Ventriloquist.
Issues #20-26 of
Batgirl and Gail Simone's Batman: The Dark Knight #23.1: Ventriloquist are now available in a nice floppy paperback collection! Batgirl Vol. 5: Deadline Hardcover It's a hazardous reunion between Batgirl and the former Court of Owls assassin Strix as they face off against the lethal new threat known as Silver - the man who knows the secret of Gotham City's conspiracy of bats! Batgirl #27-34 and Batgirl Annual #2 are collected for the first time in hardcover. Captain Marvel #10 Carol's 100th solo issue anniversary special! We're celebrating 100 issues of Carol Danvers' high-flying, smack-talking, and butt-kicking adventures, thanks to you our beloved Carol Corps! Join writer Kelly Sue DeConnick and artists David Lopez, Marcio Takara and more as we bring you a momentous (and over-sized) issue almost 50 years in the making!
It's been a long road... but Carol Danvers now has one hundred issues of her own comic (over various renumberings and reboots)! And this is your oversized anniversary edition to aid in your celebrations.
Harbinger: Faith #0 This is Faith #0! Her first and only boyfriend to date is a little bit of an douche, her friends are all gone, and, after her insane adventure in Mexico City, Faith Hebert is feeling a little frustrated with the direction of her life. She's just a normal super-powered young woman in an increasingly crazy world. Here's the story of a true innocent and kind heart in a hard world. From the comic shop of her youth to the moment she found out that, despite her weight, she was actually light as feather. Harbinger is Valiant Comics' series about outcast teenage superheroes trying to take over the world... or trying to save the world from those who would take it over. Faith, known as the superhero Zephyr (and derisively as Zepplin by her "friends") is firmly on the side of not taking over the world. Eisner award nominated writer Joshua Dysart and artist Robert Gill (the guy behind, among other things, the covers of both the Batgirl trades featured in this gallery) tell her origin story in Harbinger: Faith #0. Even without that kind of talent involved, we would have told you about it: how often do you see an overweight female superhero? Lumberjanes #9 In order to earn the coveted Gimme S'more badge, the Lumberjanes set out on a backpacking trip in the deep, dark woods. But the woods aren't so scary anymore, now that the Lumberjanes have kicked, punched, and befriended all the fearsome magical monsters out there, so they set out to find the one thing that can still scare them all: campfire stories!
Lumberjanes was originally supposed to be an eight issue miniseries, but it was converted into an ongoing! Issue #9 is the first issue beyond that opening story. The Sandman: Overture #4 (of 6) In an asylum in the City of the Stars, Morpheus comes face to face with the creature at the center of the war that will destroy the universe. Time is running out...
Okay, so it's not the beginning or the end of a series... but
Sandman: Overture comes out irregularly, so we could all use a reminder that there's a new issue to pick up. Storm #6 Finishing her business with Yukio in Las Vegas, Storm hitches a flight home. But unbeknownst to her, she's got some stowaways in her carry-on luggage: vengeful assassins armed to the teeth! And they intend to make sure Storm doesn't reach her destination...
She-Hulk is being cancelled, but we can #SaveStorm. Or at least you can consider picking up this month's issue for a try.
The Wicked + The Divine #6
The Faust Act
is over. Welcome to Fandemonium . The second arc of The Wicked + The Divine begins in its traditional manner (i.e. a ludicrous pun.) We'd say something like 'nothing will ever be the same again' but if you think about it, you can say that about literally everything, ever. Er...also some comic story. Probably. The Wicked + The Divine starts a brand new story arc right here. If you caught up by buying the first trade, now's your chance to get in on the monthly excitement with the other monthly readers.
What are you picking up this week? Let us know in the comments!
