Carnival cruise guest speaks out after fellow passenger dies after going overboard in scooter: ‘My heart goes out to them’

Carnival Celebration passengers were left shaken this past weekend when an elderly woman died after falling off the pier during a stop in the Bahamas.
The woman, 88 years old, is believed to have lost control of her mobility scooter and plunged into the water, striking her head against the ship before falling into the water, according to a People report.
Another passenger who was on the same ship when the incident occurred, TikTok creator Stina (@stinadoesmyhair), took to the platform to express her condolences and share other details.
A Fellow Carnival Passenger Shares What Happened
Stina says she and her fellow passengers were on the Carnival Celebration from May 3 to May 10 when the incident happened on the final day of the trip.
“Yeah, life is so freaking short,” she says. “No day should be taken for granted like, ever.”
According to Stina, the ship was docked in Nassau, The Bahamas, when passengers heard an announcement that someone had gone overboard. “And we did just learn that that person did not make it,” she adds.
She says passengers later learned that the person had gone overboard while using a scooter.
“They actually went overboard on a scooter,” Stina says. “Somebody did post pictures that they did retrieve the scooter from the water.”
Stina says the incident was heartbreaking. “It’s just so freaking sad,” she says. “The CSI then had to come and every, and on the last freaking day.”
She adds that she wouldn’t be filming or photographing the aftermath out of respect for the woman’s family. “But my heart definitely goes out for them,” she adds.
Stina ended the video by urging viewers not to take time with loved ones for granted.
“Stay prayed up,” she says. “Don’t even take a second for granted. And love on your loved ones while they’re here. “That’s all I can say.”
Other Cruise Ship Incidents
According to CruiseRadio, this is the third death to have occurred at Celebration Key after the destination opened in July 2025.
In August 2025, two American Carnival guests in their 70s died in separate drowning incidents less than three hours apart. One passenger, who was sailing on the Carnival Mardi Gras, died while snorkeling at the beach. The other, who was on the Carnival Elation, died in a lagoon pool.
Earlier this year, in April, another two deaths happened on the same day. One Tasmanian woman died while snorkeling on Moreton Island. Shortly after, a man in his 70s who “apparently climbed over the safety railing and jumped overboard,” People reported.
Though ships often take serious safety precautions, accidents can and do happen sometimes.
