California Woman Ordered a Slice of Carrot Cake From Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse through DoorDash. In a Twist, She Got a ‘Centerpiece’ for $24

DoorDash deliveries are almost always filled with surprises. Madison Waller (@goinggonemadd), who’s visiting Chicago, caved in and tried Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse through DoorDash. She topped her order up with a $24 slice of carrot cake. What arrived at her doorstep was completely unexpected.
“I heard amazing things about the food,” Waller said. This would be her first time trying what the steakhouse had to offer. She decided to go to DoorDash and try Gibsons’ offerings, and then the app asked a crucial question.
“Madison, would you like to add a slice of carrot cake?” It’s a pop-up, and the price was $24. For a slim slice of cake, it was definitely costly.
“$24 ain’t cheap, but princess treatment ain’t free. Click! I add it,” Waller said despite her initial hesitation. The best approach to trying a new restaurant is just to try things out. To Waller’s surprise, the $24 would turn out to be a fair price.
The best DoorDash plot twist
“I wait. The DoorDash comes,” Waller said. Two bags arrived, both heavy. She explained, “One of the bags was really heavy.” At first, she was perplexed—she only ordered food for herself and a small cake slice.
But then, she found a white box.
“It’s not just the cake slice from Gibsons. It’s a centerpiece,” Waller revealed, showing the supposed “slice” of cake. If anything, it looked like one whole cake shaped like a slice.
“They sent me a quarter of the cake. This is for a family of nine, and here I was, thinking I was going to treat myself, but it turns out, I’m just catering an event,” she joked. But the cake was so thick and huge, it overshadowed Waller’s face from the video. She held her hand against the cake, and it looked small against the sweet monstrosity.
“I have plans with this cake for the foreseeable future,” she said. With cake that huge, it would take almost anyone a week to eat it all to themselves. Even commenters on TikTok felt a rumble in their stomach at the sight.
Is the Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse carrot cake really that big?
One commenter wrote, “Give me a fork and put my phone on silent.”
Another person said, “Steak too juicy lobster too buttery.” Perhaps this incident with Gibsons is the best case of false advertisement gone right.
Someone else joked, “I’m allergic to carrots so really all I need is a fork, a private room, and an EpiPen.”
A TikTok user sighed in relief, “The way the video started I was fully prepared for you tell us the cake was missing.” It’s a common horror story that happens to DoorDash food, after all.
Needless to say, $24 for a cake “slice” that looks to be bigger than a human head is cheap. If it had been a small serving, it would be a different story.
But did Gibsons make a mistake? According to another commenter, “Can confirm that’s how big they are when you order in-house as well.”
Outside of Waller’s TikTok video, Gibsons posted a reel on their official Instagram account. It seems that the rumors are true—the steakhouse serves a huge slice of carrot cake that can feed at least three to five people. It seems that people who love carrot cake won’t be disappointed by its size when they come and try the viral Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse item for themselves.
