The White House Isn’t a Fan of Bruce Springsteen. So Why Did They Try to Use His Music?

Bruce Springsteen’s music has been used by the White House against his wishes is in the past. It was an example of the United States government taking aim at musical performers who dare to buck against the current administration. Now, they’re mad the Boss is…doing what he always does.
In the past, President Donald Trump played “Born in the U.S.A.” at rallies according to reports from multiple sources. The New Jersey born singer rebuked the use of his music and it spurred Trump on. Springsteen has come out against various lawmakers using the song in the past. (Bob Dole and Pat Buchanan, notably.) But, Politico Playbook got a comment about the latest development: Springsteen’s new tour.
Titled “The Land of Hopes and Dreams Tour,” it is decidedly not the kind of tour that is going to gas up the Trump administration. Which has led to the White House issuing a response to the tour in question.
White House communications director Steven Cheung said, “When this loser Springsteen comes back home to his own City of Ruins in his head he’ll realize his Glory Days are behind him and his fans have left him out in the street putting him in a 10th Avenue Freeze Out because he has a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his brain.”
Capitalizing the titles of the individual song references is so 2017 Tumblr, or so, it makes my head hurt. It’s been well documented that this particular political regime is governed by online trolls and apparently that’s from the top to the bottom.
This is all in response to his new tour announcement. One that the White House said would surely flop. Springsteen is known for having sold out tours and well attended concerts. But whatever makes the Trump administration happy. To target this particular performer, and engaging a troll off might not have the effect that the White House is looking for. But, we live in the dumbest timeline so we’ll have to see how it all shakes out.
Bruce Springsteen finds himself in the crosshairs of the Trump administration

Some would be quick to point out that Springsteen campaigned for Kamala Harris during 2024 presidential cycle. For the longtime singer songwriter, this choice stemmed from his disagreements with the policy positions stated by the Trump campaign. This mattered more than a Democrat and Republican split.
On stage at the Land of Hope and Dreams tour in Manchester, England, Springsteen categorized the current United States as, “Currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.” On social media, these comments spread as people who didn’t even like Springsteen found themselves resonating with the message he shared on stage.
Springsteen’s previous comments about Trump
Springsteen told the crowd, “There are some very weird, strange and dangerous **** going on out there right now. In America, they’re persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. And, in America, the richest men are taking satisfaction in abandoning the world’s poorest children to sickness and death.”
“In my country, they’re taking sadistic pleasure in the pain that they inflict on loyal American workers. They’re rolling back historic civil rights legislation that led to a more just and plural society. They are abandoning our great allies and siding with dictators against those struggling for their freedom, they are defunding American universities that won’t bow down to their ideological demands. They are removing residents off of American streets and without due process of law, are deporting them to foreign detention centers and prisons. This is all happening now.”
