Star Wars Updates! The Force Awakens‘ Broadsaber, Plus Rogue One Rumors

Recommended Videos

Much has been made of Kylo Ren’s broadsaber in The Force Awakens ever since its first trailer appearance; whether you think it’s corny or cool, this image via Empire offers a second look at this unusual lightsaber design.

It’s not all about the flashy swords for JJ Abrams, though; the Star Wars director recently opened up about how he loves this franchise for its emotional arcs:

[Star Wars: A New Hope] looked real, and it was a combination of everything great: It was really funny; it was romantic; it was sweeping and epic; it was incredibly intimate; it had an amazing message and impact. It was an incredibly powerful experience.

Yeah! Plus all those laser-swords, right?

In other Star Wars news, some photos that may or may not be helmets from the set of Rogue One got leaked via Donnie Yen’s Instagram, but the original post has disappeared. (If you want to be naughty and look at the picture anyway … well, the internet never forgets.)

One last bizarre tidbit about Rogue OneGrand Moff Tarkin will appear, played by a CGI Peter Cushing. Wow, what?
