Boston woman finds out her brother joined forces with her vindictive mom to ruin her wedding day. Then it takes a dark twist: ‘I have to get security’

The insidious nature of digital harassment.

A Boston woman, known as @chronicallygirl on TikTok, recently revealed she needs to hire security for her upcoming wedding after a disturbing escalation of harassment from her estranged family. The creator, whose real name is Scarlet, shared her unsettling experience in a candid makeup vlog, detailing how her family’s attempts to disrupt her life have reached a new, tech-savvy level.

This isn’t just about typical family drama; we’re talking about creepy AI images and a suspected sibling collaboration. Scarlet initially thought suggestions for wedding security were a bit much. After all, her wedding is happening out of the country, which adds a layer of logistical difficulty for anyone trying to crash it. However, a recent incident has completely changed her perspective, making the idea of security feel far from over the top.

She’s been no-contact with her family for a while, blocking them on every platform, but that hasn’t stopped them from creating new accounts to lurk on her public TikTok and Instagram profiles. They’ve been watching, and they know a lot about her wedding plans, since she had invited them before cutting ties.

The situation took a truly dark turn last week

Scarlet had to get legally married in the States before her international ceremony, and she excitedly shared a video announcing this milestone. She posted it the day after the legal ceremony, grateful that her family couldn’t ruin that special moment for her and her husband.

Unfortunately, any hope that this news would make them “lay off” and “just let [her] be happy” was quickly shattered. Instead, she was inundated with messages from multiple fake accounts, all saying the same horrible things about her and her new husband. What really pushed this into terrifying territory were the “creepy AI images of us with lines through our faces.” This wasn’t just typical online trolling; it was a targeted, technologically advanced attack designed to instill fear.

Scarlet wisely pointed out that she wanted to be careful not to fuel their “ego” or show them how much it affected her, but it was clear they were trying to “take away some beauty from getting married” and make her “scared and paranoid.” The use of AI imagery really ups the ante on digital harassment, making it feel incredibly personal and invasive. This level of digital manipulation led Scarlet to a chilling realization.

Her mother, she believes, isn’t tech-savvy enough to create multiple fake accounts or generate AI images. Her gut feeling points to her “golden child, baby brother” being enlisted to help her mom carry out these digital threats. It’s an awful thought, knowing a family member is actively participating in this kind of harassment. This new development, involving her brother and targeting her husband, has made her rethink everything.

Her mom’s inconsistent and unsettling behavior was already a huge trigger

There were good periods, quickly followed by threats of her childhood belongings being thrown away. She described a chaotic pattern of anger, threats, sweet messages, and then more angry messages. Her mom would post hate comments publicly online, then leave a threatening voicemail, and follow up with a harassing email. It’s a dizzying mix of emotional manipulation and intimidation.

Scarlet initially thought she could manage this by simply blocking and not responding, maintaining her no-contact boundary. She believed it was sustainable, even though “nobody should have to manage that.” However, the involvement of her brother and the direct targeting of her husband has shifted her perspective entirely.

This new level of coordinated harassment has made her “more scared about her mental state and how desperate she’s getting.” The thought of her mom booking a flight, leaving the country, and “doing something crazy at my wedding” now feels “scarier and more realistic” than ever before.

She previously considered the idea of her mom showing up to a small wedding of supportive loved ones as “crazy,” given everyone knows the history of their relationship and her mistreatment. Now, she fears her mom “doesn’t care about her perception” or her “impact” anymore. This escalation is making her “really nervous” about her big day.

Friends have even sent her screenshots of “crazy, ranting posts” her mom is making about her on social media, reinforcing Scarlet’s belief that her mother’s “mental health is clearly in crisis.” As someone who grew up in that kind of environment, Scarlet finds it “deeply unsettling.” She wants to believe that logistically, it’s impossible for her mom to just show up, but she’s “freaked out.”

Her story drew an outpouring of empathy and validation from viewers

Many commenters shared their own similar experiences with toxic families, offering a strong sense of community and understanding. Phrases like “Your boundaries are valid” and “I’m so sorry this is happening” filled her comment section, alongside widespread praise for her incredible strength in maintaining her peace despite the constant, creepy messages.

Beyond the emotional support, a significant number of supporters urged Scarlet to diligently document every single instance of harassment. This advice is crucial for potential legal protection, highlighting the serious nature of the threats she’s facing. People expressed genuine concern for her wedding safety, underscoring the validity of her decision to consider security.

A smaller, but still helpful, group offered practical tips on blocking strategies and enhancing personal security measures. The overall sentiment from her audience remains incredibly compassionate and protective, focusing on safeguarding her mental health journey during this incredibly stressful time.
