While I’m still heartbroken that Ava DuVernay will not be directing Black Panther, I still want to see this movie happen! TheWrap reports that because Black Panther is Marvel’s first superhero of color, they are making a conscious effort to diversify their team.

The article states that Joe Robert Cole, who’s been a part of Marvel’s in-house writers program (which included Guardians of the Galaxy’s Nicole Perlman), is in talks to be screenwriter for Black Panther. Cole is an African-American filmmaker who also wrote and directed 2011’s Amber Lake. The exclusive also addresses the rumors about who will be directing the movie. While some sources have pointed toward Straight Outta Compton’s F. Gary Gray as a contender, they state that “the job is considered wide-open.” As Gray will be directing Fast 8 the rumors appear false.

Who do you think should direct Black Panther?
