Some cases become more disturbing as investigators learn what may have been happening behind closed doors. The death of one woman in Austria has now raised questions not only about what happened to her, but also about her husband’s past.
Daniela Aichinger, 39, died after allegedly being drugged and sexually assaulted by other men. Her husband, Robert Aichinger, is accused of allowing the assaults for money. Now, a woman who was married to Robert before Daniela has come forward with allegations of her own.
According to The Mirror, Robert’s 48-year-old former wife claims he was violent toward her and pressured her to take part in sexual activities with other couples. Her allegations surfaced as authorities continue investigating Daniela’s death and what allegedly happened before it.
What else had been happening behind closed doors?
Daniela died on June 25 at the couple’s home in Marchtrenk, Austria. Her daughter reportedly found her unresponsive in a pool of blood on their waterbed. Robert was reportedly drunk when questioned and initially told emergency services there had been “an accident” during “rough sex.”
A post-mortem examination found severe internal and external injuries. A major blood vessel had been cut, causing Daniela to bleed out within minutes. Her injuries were so serious that emergency medical workers were unable to save her, with the examination finding that “death occurred rapidly.”
Investigators allege Robert incapacitated Daniela before allowing other men to sexually assault her. The case has uncomfortable parallels with the abuse uncovered in Gisèle Pelicot’s case, where drugs were used to incapacitate a woman before men sexually assaulted her.
Authorities reportedly discovered messages between Robert and a 51-year-old neighbor accused of sexually assaulting Daniela twice, including on the night she died. Robert also allegedly sent the neighbor a photograph of Daniela unconscious that night.
In one alleged message, Robert wrote, “I’ll get her properly drunk. Then you can have sex with her again. The way she was whining the other day was amazing.” The neighbor allegedly responded, “She almost screamed. You cover her mouth again,” and reportedly thanked Robert for “allowing me to use her.” Other messages reportedly acknowledged the drugging and referred to Daniela as “dead meat.”
The 51-year-old neighbor was arrested, while authorities are examining whether other men were involved. Robert was arrested on July 2 as the investigation continued.
His former wife reportedly told police Robert became increasingly violent after their first son was born. She claims he pressured her to participate sexually with other couples and became physically abusive after she refused, pinning her down and repeatedly punching her in the face.
The alleged attack left her with a broken and bruised jaw and bruising around her cheekbone. She also accused Robert of severely beating their dog, claiming the animal later trembled whenever he appeared.
A different neighbor described Daniela as friendly but recalled finding Robert strange. He claimed Robert once asked whether he was interested in swapping sexual partners, despite the two barely knowing each other. The neighbor refused and said Robert later began discussing his violent sexual fantasies.
“He then started to tell me how he had violent sexual fantasies, and that’s when I started trying to avoid him, to be honest, even our dog found him strange, he’s quite a big and imposing man, in the end, we had to give our pet away because he would start barking when he saw him,” the neighbor recalled.
Authorities continue investigating Daniela’s death and the alleged drugging and sexual assaults. The allegations against Robert and the other accused man remain under investigation, with Robert reportedly due to appear in court on Wednesday.
