Ben Stiller Tweeted About the Knicks. So Why Did MAGA Start Yelling At Him About Trump?

Sadly, it seems that a pre-requisite of being online these days is having a victim complex and getting unreasonably angry over the wrong thing. This often means a lot of people being mad at you for no reason, something Hollywood comedy legend Ben Stiller has discovered after an unfortunately timed social media post.

The post in question simply said “Got it done,” and anybody with the ability to read would have known it was in reference to the Knicks winning the fourth game in their NBA playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks, bringing the overall score to 2-2 after four games. Although the series is currently a draw, the Knicks have dominated their wins while the Hawks have scraped through in their two triumphs, leading to some nervousness among fans of the NYC-based team that they’ll manage to lose despite being superior.

Even with the obvious context of the There’s Something About Mary star being a huge Knicks fan, and his relative lack of political posting, a number of Trump supporters saw red. Dozens decided that the actor was in fact gloating about the most recent failed assassination attempt on the former Apprentice host and close personal friend of Jefferey Epstein, and were quick to let him know their feelings about it.

The replies range from deeply unpleasant threats to predictable railing against Hollywood elites, but all have an element of the unhinged about them. While the responses are illogical by their very nature, they also make no sense even in a world where the Secret Life of Walter Mitty was writing about the botched shooting at the White House correspondent’s dinner.

The shooter was apprehended with zero casualties, and as per the BBC there weren’t even any reported injuries. If someone was hoping for the demise of Trump or any other big names in the Republican Party, then nothing about what happened implies that suspect Cole Tomas Allen got anything done.

The toxic nature of social media means Stiller is likely to move on unscathed, much like Trump. One can hope those who incorrectly piled onto him will learn their lesson, but if history is anything to go by that’s not very likely.
