Finally, This Netflix Series’ Star-Studded Return Has a Release Date

After taking people by surprise (and winning a plethora of awards along the way), Netflix’s Beef is finally returning… but not in the way that you might expect.
On Wednesday, the streaming service officially confirmed that Season 2 of Beef will be released on Thursday, April 16th. Instead of continuing the events of the first season, which explored the fallout of a road range incident between Danny (Steven Yeun) and Amy (Ali Wong), this new batch of episodes will turn the show into an anthology with an entirely new cast and crew. It doesn’t hurt that the main cast for this story is absolutely stacked: Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny.
The series will star Spaeny and Melton as Ashley and Austin, a young couple who witness an alarming fight between their boss Josh (Isaac) and his wife Lindsay (Mulligan), triggering chess moves of favors and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner. The cast will also include Mikaela Hoover, Youn Yuh-jung, Song-Kang-ho, Seoyeon Jang, and William Fichtner.
After Beef Season 1 took a lot of people by surprise — both the events of the series itself, and the hype and awards buzz around it — the idea of returning back for more might seem like a tall order. But this concept does sound like it could be a lot of fun, and take things into a different direction than Season 1. And honestly, I was sold just on the concept of seeing any combination of Isaac, Mulligan, Melton, and Spaeny onscreen together, after they each have carved out such specific and nuanced careers. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way, especially as we get closer to seeing the series make its debut. April 16th can’t get here fast enough.
