At an OBGYN appointment, a new doctor joked that she would kill her patient and husband: ‘Yeah, people are crazy these days’

It was a deadly "joke."

At an OBGYN appointment, a new doctor joked that she would kill her patient and husband ‘Yeah, people are crazy these days’

Ally Caltabiano (@alexandraarosee) brought her toddler along during an OBGYN checkup. But after the doctor made a “joking” comment about her daughter, Caltabiano was unsettled. She tried to brush it off as a joke, but the doctor’s words still left her feeling threatened.

“I did try to see, like, the joke in it. Because I don’t—I try not to, like, over-dramatize things that happen, because I like to see the best in people. But in all reality, I don’t trust anyone,” Caltabiano prefaced on TikTok. She explained that she brought her toddler to her OBGYN appointment. Caltabiano said she saw a new doctor since she’s in a different location and is due to give birth soon.

The mother claimed that the moment the OBGYN walked into the room, the doctor wouldn’t stop “obsessing” over her daughter’s looks. Caltabiano clarified, “I love it when people compliment her. Like, that’s so sweet, that’s so kind.” At first, Caltabiano didn’t see an issue with the doctor’s compliments, thinking that it came with the job. She believes OBGYNs should make patients feel safe and comfortable, so she didn’t take any of the comments as an issue.

Then, the doctor allegedly said that Caltabiano has “set the bar so high” with how beautiful their daughter is, and that the next baby should be just as beautiful. Caltabiano thought the comment felt excessive but didn’t think much of it. “Anywho, that did not really raise any red flags for me,” she noted. Caltabiano thanked the doctor and then laughed it off, even though she found the comment awkward.

A killer ‘joke’ from the OBGYN

But then, as the OBGYN was measuring Caltabiano’s belly, the doctor allegedly made an inappropriate joke. “Well, if this baby is as beautiful as your first, I’m going to kill you,” the doctor allegedly said. The OBGYN allegedly looked Caltabiano dead in the eye and continued, “And then I’m going to kill your husband, and then I’m gonna steal your children.” Caltabiano said this was a word-for-word quote from the doctor and that she wishes she were being dramatic.

“Well, I really hope not,” Caltabiano told the doctor after processing the remark. The doctor allegedly said nothing until after some time had passed. Then, the doctor allegedly stated, “Yeah, people are crazy these days.”

Caltabiano believes her doctor made a bad, unprofessional joke. Not all doctors are known for their professionalism, as another woman from Las Vegas reported after her male OBGYN made an inappropriate comment while conducting a disturbing exam. Nevertheless, Caltabiano commented, “But at the same time, like, people have psychotic breaks all the time. Because first of all, who has that thought?”

Dismissing her concerns

Unsettled by the OBGYN, Caltabiano said she called the office manager. However, Caltabiano alleged they gave her only a surface-level apology and told her the OBGYN’s patients “love” her. Regardless, Caltabiano still requested that the OBGYN not deliver her baby. In the end, she said the office manager couldn’t guarantee her request because it’s a big practice, and whoever the on-call doctor is will deliver the baby.

After telling her husband about the incident, they decided that it would be too big a risk to deliver their baby in the unnamed practice. Caltabiano alleged that the office manager told her husband she was taking things “out of context,” and she found this dismissive of her report.

“Whether a bad joke or not, it was the weirdest thing anyone has ever said to me, and I’m just, like, trusting my gut on this one,” she concluded. Some clinics take unprofessionalism to a new level. While this woman from New York didn’t receive a death threat from her clinic, they allegedly made her believe she was pregnant during a chaotic ultrasound session.
