Anthony Mackie Isn’t Really Interested in a Solo Falcon Movie for Marvel

Solo is the loneliest Mackie.

If you were hoping for a solo Falcon movie (among all the other Marvel solo movies we might like to see … *ahem*), you might want to adjust your expectations: Anthony Mackie isn’t sure he’s into the idea. Hey, maybe he’s angling for a solo Captain America movie instead.

Or maybe not, since Mackie’s reluctance for a solo outing is mostly based on how much he likes working with a team instead. When IGN brought up the prospect of a Falcon movie, Mackie said, “No, I don’t know man. I don’t know. I like going to work with good people.” When pressed on the issue, Mackie said, “That means my dudes are not going to be there,” referring to Captain America‘s Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan.

He shrugged off the suggestion that they could cameo by saying that once they started hanging out on set, it’d be impossible to get them to leave. Of course, if Mackie were talking to Marvel about a solo Falcon movie, this is exactly the kind of “no, but not really a definite no no” answer he’d have to give. On the other hand, Marvel’s already got so many upcoming movies that they’ve had to shift their schedule around and delay things (*grumble*) just to accommodate what’s already coming.

By the time a solo Falcon movie even becomes an option, Marvel’s cinematic universe will have changed a lot … which brings me back to Mackie as the star of an eventual Sam Wilson Captain America movie, instead. Hey, he might still get to go to work with all those “good people” on it, considering how Cap’s movies have become a real team effort (and have definitely been better for it) already anyway.
