What a good day for music. New Kids On the Block are coming to virtual reality, and the voices of Animaniacs have plans to launch a tour. What year is it?
Four of the show’s seasons were recently added to Netflix, and Rob Paulsen just announced plans to reunite with Jess Harnell (Wakko) and Tress MacNeille (Dot) for a tour accompanied by a live orchestra. Paulsen spoke to the NY Times about how he’s constantly asked to perform “Yakko’s World,” the famous song that names the Earth’s countries. While I imagine it’s something that gets old he usually obliges, saying “The problem comes when people stop asking. I’m incredibly grateful.” It’s a song that made elementary school tests much easier for a lot of us, alongside “The Presidents Song” and the “50 State Capitols” song.
Paulsen added that he’ll be performing a new version of “Yakko’s World,” which will revise (it was written before the Soviet Union broke up) and add nations formed since the song first came out. That’s about two decades of history to add! The group reunited back in 2014 too, but their only stop was Colorado. There aren’t any details as of yet about where they’ll stop and when, but I’ll be keeping my eye on Paulsen’s Twitter. What’s your favorite Animaniacs song?
