Former United States Representative Adam Kinzinger has been a long-time critic of United States President Donald Trump and members of the Republican Party. On multiple occasions, he has publicly challenged both, often taking to social media, especially X (formerly Twitter), to do so.
On July 22, 2026, Adam Kinzinger shared a clipped video of a speech by Rick Jackson, the Republican nominee for Georgia governor, and captioned it as “no lies detected.” But what made Kinzinger say such a thing? In the video, Jackson, standing beside Donald Trump, says without pause that once he is governor, he will ensure that Georgia is the best place to do business. He also adds that he will reduce affordability to “the lowest it’s ever been.”
Adam Kinzinger pokes fun at Rick Jackson’s promises to reduce affordability
On July 22, 2026, Donald Trump introduced Rick Jackson at the Marietta Trump Rally. During his roughly 4-minute speech, Jackson aimed to convince the audience that he was the better choice for Georgia’s governor, repeatedly emphasizing that he would attract more businesses to the state.
At one point in his speech, Jackson questioned the Democrats’ focus on affordability, claiming it was not a real solution. He argued that affordability is a business issue rather than a political one, calling for “business solutions” like those Donald Trump has been seeking his “entire life.” Jackson also accused his opponent of wanting to cut businesses and cancel them just because he visited a restaurant. He concluded his speech with the lines that have now become popular on social media and has also grabbed the attention of Adam Kinzinger. “I’m going to make sure that Georgia is the best place to do business and reduce affordability to the lowest it’s ever been. And I’m going to be this man’s (looking at Trump) favorite governor,” he said.

Rick Jackson’s opponent, Keisha Lance Bottoms, has an affordability plan for Georgia
In a press release on April 15, 2026, Keisha Lance Bottoms, the Democratic nominee for Georgia Governor, outlined her plans to lower costs for Georgia families. She stated that one way to address this issue is by suspending the gas tax, since it affects the price of gas in Georgia. Additionally, she mentioned that she can reduce costs for Georgia families by joining other states that have sued the Trump administration over tariffs that have “unfairly” impacted small businesses in Georgia.
Throwing it back to this moment when the governor of Georgia offered a sixty-day suspension on the gas tax for residents.
On the topic of affordable housing, Bottoms revealed that groundwork has already been laid. She said, “When we closed the multi-billion dollar transaction that’s now known as Centennial Yards, we created an affordable housing trust fund. We can do that across the state to help offset housing costs.”
