Man Gets Stopped From Boarding His Flight at the Airport. Turns Out, He is Allegedly ‘too Petite’ to Be on the Plane
TikTok user Nicholas Kusnir (nicholaskthinks) says he was stopped from boarding a flight at New York’s JFK Airport because airline staff allegedly decided he was “too petite” to fly without assistance. In a video posted to TikTok, Kusnir claims he was asked to leave the plane after staff raised concerns about his size.
Kusnir said he weighed his bag at home, didn’t bring any liquids, batteries, and arrived early. He also said he checked in early the previous day and selected his seat to avoid last-minute complications. However, despite having everything in order, Kusnir noticed that while the airline staff was scanning his ticket, they were looking at him. He said he didn’t think much of it at the time.
He then revealed that when he got on the plane and was about to sit in his seat, a flight attendant approached him and asked him to get off the plane. Kusnir said he did not want to argue with the person, so he listened and got off the plane. Kusnir then said that when he went to the back gate, the staff said that he was “too petite to be on this flight.”
Kusnir said that when he enquired what the staff meant by that, they said Kusnir was too “petite” and “dainty” and that the same would “mess off the thermodynamics of the whole plane.” Kusnir’s adventures didn’t end there. He said that as he spoke with the staff for 45 minutes at the gate, the manager of the airport came up to him and asked to see his ID, saying that he didn’t believe that Kusnir was of legal age.

Kusnir said that after the manager saw his ID, which showed he was “well over eighteen,” he refused to acknowledge it was legitimate. As a result, Kusnir said he was stuck at the airport, unsure what to do next.
Maybe not the first time, but after a couple of rewatches, it becomes clear that Kusnir’s story may be made up, which means none of what he said in the video actually happened, which wasn’t unfortunately the case for this family of 4 on a JetBlue flight. Taking this into account, some people have dropped some cheeky responses under Kusnir’s post.
One user wrote, “I got kicked off because I was really, really ridiculously good looking…and I clogged the toilet.” Another user said, “I was not allowed on the flight because they said my eyes were too bright green. would interfere with the landing strip lights!”
A few others identified Kusnir’s lies immediately. One user commented, saying, “do better I can’t even try to believe this.” Another remarked, “I have never heard of such a thing.”
You may be asked to get off a plane for multiple reasons, but being petite is perhaps not one of them
On rare occasions, you may be required to leave a plane, but it’s very unlikely that this is because you’re too thin. Fodor’s Travel Guide notes in an article that when an airline is overweight, staff may ask passengers to volunteer to get off the plane. If they don’t, the airline staff might select people themselves. The airline then compensates them for the inconvenience.
However, the source strongly states that individuals taken off the plane in such situations are not selected based on their weight or any other physical characteristics, but that the process is far more practical. Passengers who checked in late, passengers with last-minute bookings, and those who paid low ticket prices would allegedly be among the first to go in such situations. For example, a pregnant Maryland woman was reportedly kicked off a Frontier flight after buying a low-priced ticket.
All this conjecture suggests that Kusnir wasn’t being truthful in his TikTok and was probably doing it just for kicks.
