Target Shopper Decides to Ignore Couple Staring at Her. Then the Girl Takes Out Her Phone and Does Something Outrageous: ‘Honestly was Shaking’
She should’ve probably confronted them.

Public spaces like retail stores and fast food outlets have increasingly turned into an arena for petty behavior and unprovoked judgment. Every other day, there’s a strange altercation happening at one of these places. This time, it allegedly happened to TikTok creator shortybutnotyourshorty on a shopping trip to Target.
The creator’s seemingly normal errand allegedly took an infuriating turn when an unfamiliar stranger decided to treat her presence like a spectator sport. She debriefed the story in a candid TikTok video currently sitting at over 8,600 views. The creator unpacked the jarring encounter in detail, asserting that it felt more like middle school bullying than adult behavior.
According to the creator, things began with a girl awkwardly staring at her by the store entrance. But when she tried to ignore it, the staring allegedly escalated into an unprovoked privacy violation that left her visibly shaken.
The creator had an unexpected encounter with a staring couple by the entrance
The incident unfolded as the creator made her way toward the self-checkout registers at Target to finalize her purchases. Just then, she reportedly noticed an unfamiliar young woman standing idly beside her male partner near the entrance doors. As the creator passed by, the woman allegedly locked eyes with her and began making exaggerated, wide-eyed facial expressions.
Hoping to diffuse any awkwardness and avoid escalating a tense moment, the creator made the conscious decision to look away and keep moving. “She looks at me, and she’s like does this weird… like thing… So I just look away, cause I assumed that maybe she has problems or something, and I don’t want to stare.”
Sadly, choosing not to engage did nothing to stop the harassment. Looking back, the creator was horrified to see the stranger openly lift her smartphone and allegedly snap an unprovoked photo of her across the aisle. In a similar incident, customers were caught taking secret photo of a bartender in Tennessee. Such behavior is dehumanizing and disrespectful toward unsuspecting strangers.
A stranger snapped photos to mock her in front of her partner
After allegedly clicking the creator’s photo, the woman then reportedly turned to her companion. According to the creator, she was showing him the picture on her screen while laughing aloud at the her expense. The deliberate mockery left the creator trembling with anger. At this point, she was struggling between the urge to confront the stranger directly or walk away from the juvenile spectacle.
“I honestly was shaking. Like, I literally almost wanted to fight this girl. Like, I was appalled,” the creator shared. The normalization of snapping candid photos of strangers in everyday retail spaces has severely eroded public boundaries. Instead of treating public outings with basic decency, some people treat random shoppers as content for private ridicule.
However, taking unauthorized photos of innocent bystanders in stores crosses the line from petty immaturity into outright public harassment. Reflecting on the hostile incident from her car, the creator asked her audience whether they would have confronted the woman on the spot or simply ignored the childish stunt. Because minding your own business in public shouldn’t open you up to unsolicited paparazzi behavior.
