Woman from London Got an Interview from a Listing at Job Today. She Ended Up Getting Interviewed by the Cops Instead
She was spared from a sketchy WhatsApp recruiter.
M (@m1107h0) from London applied for a personal assistant role. She was prepared for her job interview but had to answer questions from cops instead.
“I walked into an active crime scene thinking I was going into a job interview,” M told TikTok. She said that a lady reached out to her on WhatsApp, saying that a wealthy man needed a personal assistant. M found the job listing at Job Today and didn’t think too much of it.
“Cool, this is up my alley,” M said. After which, she was told to go to an office in Mayfair, London. It’s a fairly affluent location, and nothing seemed amiss for M when she showed up at 1:00 p.m. Shortly after, M spotted another girl who was clearly dressed for an interview.
“We both looked at each other, really confused,” she recalled. At first, the girls thought they were double-booked for the role and interview. But then, the other girl said she was a candidate for a different role.
“I texted the recruiter, one tick. Tried to call her—doesn’t go through,” M stated. But M still wanted to go for the interview even though time had passed. She and the other applicant decided to ring the bell. The door opened, but it wasn’t the recruiter or an employee who greeted the two women—it was a police officer.
M told the police that she was there for a job interview. Despite the oddity of the situation, they let both girls in and closed the door.
The cops busted the ‘job interview’
“Girls, there won’t be an interview. The person that did the job listing has been arrested,” the police allegedly informed M and the other woman. At the time, forensic investigators were scanning the property, taking photos, and putting pertinent items into custody. The women were perplexed, and M recalled laughing at the situation because she was in so much shock. But as her eyes scanned her surroundings, she realized the location wasn’t an office but a house.
After that, the police asked the women to sit down. The authorities wanted to ask them questions, and they complied. The police explained that they had been there since last night. They observed people showing up for supposed interviews throughout the day.
“We kept asking them, ‘What happened? What happened?’ and they just wouldn’t tell us,” M said. However, the police called the women “really lucky” for avoiding “something bad.” Although the police didn’t disclose the crime to the women, M heard stories from other women who allegedly came before the arrest.
A human trafficking case
“Over ten girls reached out to me about their experiences,” M said in a follow-up video. These girls were allegedly contacted by the same woman, whom M called ‘Sandy.’ Like M, they were also messaged by Sandy through WhatsApp about a personal assistant job for a wealthy CEO.
“Sandy was really pushy on whether the girls were able to travel immediately, what passport they had, if they were willing to go to Dubai, India, Portugal, within the next week,” M alleged. The girls were also asked if they were comfortable with carrying a considerable amount of gold. Additionally, the girls were also allegedly asked about their marital status and sexual relationships.
One woman allegedly went to the interview with Sandy. She asked the recruiter if she was asking her to sleep with the CEO, and Sandy nodded and agreed. Sandy allegedly reasoned that it was to build rapport with the CEO.
“We now have a group chat with all of the girls who’ve come across these people, and honestly, it’s really scary,” M commented. Trafficking is not limited to one corner of the world, and this woman from Miami believes her friend was a victim of the trade after being flown to Los Angeles, California.
