Paralyzed Man Orders McDonald’s From DoorDash. Then the Driver Does Something So Diabolical: ‘She Saw the Tip’

DoorDash is designed to make people’s lives easier. However, for one disabled TikToker, their experience was everything but that.

In the TikTok, which has garnered 202,500 views, TikTok user @adaptive98 shared what happened with a DoorDash driver.

“Hey, so I’m paralyzed and I am really [expletive] off because I ordered from DoorDash this morning, I ordered some McDonald’s, and look at what this DoorDash driver does,” he began.

As he says this, the video is showing footage of a front porch from what seems to be a Ring doorbell camera. A woman heads toward a door with a McDonald’s bag, but then, halfway through, she turns around and places the bag on a rock between the TikToker’s and the neighbor’s house.

“And if you’re like, ‘Oh, that’s no big deal. You know you can go outside and go get it.’ Yeah, this is exactly what I did and watch what happens,” he continues.

The footage then shows the TikToker leaving his home and approaching the place that he left the food. As he explains, there are bushes on either side, so he can’t reach the bag.

“So now my food is just sitting on the rocks. I can’t do anything ’cause it’s six in the morning, I can’t call any of my neihgbors […],” he adds. “All because this [expletive] [expletive] didn’t wanna walk up to the door.”

“Like she literally, almost like you could have just left it anywhere close to the door I could have got it, but no […] you leave it in a place that’s impossible for me to get,” he concluded. “[Expletive] you DoorDash.”

The Mary Sue reached out to the DoorDash driver via TikTok direct message, and DoorDash via email.

People couldn’t believe the driver’s actions

Commenters were shocked.

“I hope you reported her,” one wrote.

“That’s not lazy,” another added. “That’s malicious. She already walked to the door.”

While a third theorized: “It looks to me like she was planning to take off with the food, looked back and saw she was on camera, then left it there.”

And a fifth commented: “This is weird behavior. Why would she walk all the way to the door then take it back to the road? I don’t get it. I hope you turned her in.”

Others were more preoccupied by how much the TikToker tipped, suggesting that was the reason for her actions.

“Can you tell us how much was the tip you gave her?” a fifth asked. “Maybe the reason she did that.”

While a sixth said, “Makes me think she was [expletive] about the tip.”

What happens in the follow-up videos?

In subsequent videos, the TikToker added more details. In the second video, he explained it was his disabled mother, who had just gotten out of the hospital, who placed the order. Apparently, the driver was meant to come to the door with a code, but they left it near the neighbor’s home instead. So, she asked him to get the food.

The creator then went outside and showed the spot between rocks where the food was left.

“And the reason why I’m so [expletive] because this is for my 77-year-old mother who just got out of the hospital with a broken…hip and doordash does this [expletive]?  

“I literally had to knock it down from the rock, and then watch it tumble down to my feet, like that’s how I had to get the food which, once again, is for my 77-year-old mother who just got out of the hospital with a broken [expletive] hip.”

In his third and fourth video, he clarified some further points: Not only did he tip, but he tipped 28%. The TikToker also speculated that the woman was going to leave with the food, but that she was stopped when the neighbor’s Ring camera said she was being recorded. He also noted that she didn’t take a photo or go to the door like she was meant to.

He concluded the final video by saying, “I don’t know what was going on in this woman’s mind, and I really  don’t care. All I know is she’s behaving badly and it’s insane that people are blaming me for the issue.”

He isn’t the only one with DoorDash issues

Over on the r/Disabled subreddit, another customer in a wheelchair detailed their issues with their DoorDash driver.

“I usually have this problem particularly with DoorDash drivers,” they explained. “I’m in a wheelchair. My front door has steps. So I always pick the option to hand to me because of that.”

They then described three experiences where things didn’t go so well.

“I went outside through our garage which is in front of our house,” they explained. “Waited for the driver. Saw him coming. I called out to him stating he could hand me the food. He kept walking to the door. I called out again stating the same thing. He makes a grunt noise and still walks to the door. I call out a third time he waves his hands and continues to the door. And puts my food on the top of the steps. I ask how am I going to get my food. He continues to his car and drives off.”

“Second instance,” they added. “I went outside. Waited and never saw anyone come.” He then said he got a notification that his food was delivered. “I was confused as I never saw anyone come. I go around to the bottom of the steps and again my food is on the steps.”

They continued, “A third time I waited at the front door. I saw the driver come. I opened the door so he can see me clearly. He still sits the food on the steps. I call out to him that I can’t reach my food. He kept walking to his car.”
