Woman Gets Stuck in a Holiday From Hell in Greece After Back-to-Back Mishaps Happen to Her Family of Four: ‘Trying My Best to Not Panic’

I’d just go back home at this point.

A sun-soaked Mediterranean getaway is supposed to be the perfect family reset. Think pristine beaches, clear water, and uninterrupted relaxation. But when a holiday is cursed from the very start, an idyllic island break can rapidly descend into an unmitigated disaster.

For TikTok creator Indi (@its_indi_), a family vacation to Greece allegedly morphed into a relentless gauntlet of marine stings, violent stomach viruses, and horrifying room service. She details the five-day series of travel disasters in a candid TikTok storytime sitting at over 21,000 views.

Though the family of four planned the holiday to be a restorative summer break, it sadly turned into an agonizing battle for survival in an enclosed hotel room. While filming the video, Indi claimed she is left camping out on the balcony just to keep her sanity intact.

The relaxing family holiday in Greece quickly spiraled into medical chaos

According to Indi, the bad luck began right from the flight over when she suddenly got her periods. However, things deteriorated sharply once the family touched down in Greece. Just two days into the trip, Indi suffered an unexpected jellyfish sting while swimming. Although it was painful, it turned out to be the least of her worries.

By day three, her husband allegedly contracted a violent gastrointestinal bug. This reportedly left him incapacitated in the hotel bathroom with non-stop vomiting and diarrhea. For Indi, who deals with severe emetophobia, being trapped in a small, enclosed room with two children while managing her husband’s stomach virus was a waking nightmare.

“I’m just trying my best to not panic. I’ve got two children to look after. We’re in an enclosed space. I’m just trying to make it through the day.” To make things worse, an innocent mistake triggered the next wave of illness just as her husband began to recover on day four.

According to her, their eight-year-old son accidentally picked up his father’s contaminated water bottle and took a drink. Within twenty-four hours, the virus allegedly spread to the son. He reportedly woke up feeling severely nauseous and began vomiting intermittently throughout the day. This restarted the cycle of distress inside the family’s cramped room.

Indi is now surviving the family holiday from hell while camping out on the balcony

Desperate to feed the family without venturing far from the bathroom, Indi ordered a simple lunch of chicken strips and chips from the hotel’s room service. However, cutting into the chicken strips allegedly revealed completely raw, pink poultry meat.

Terrified of adding salmonella poisoning to their growing list of medical emergencies, the family sent the plate back and refused to touch the replacement meal. “I don’t trust anything that they’ve cooked, so we’ve not eaten that,” Indi explained. “So we just pay $20 for a plate of some chips.”

Now, her husband is recovering, her son is actively sick inside, and they have three full days left on their booking. Indi has allegedly resorted to retreating to the hotel balcony to cope with her phobia and escape the chaos indoors.

“Now we’re sitting here, stranded in our hotel rooms… I’m too scared to go inside, so I’m living out on the balcony,” she shared with dry sarcasm. “And to top it off, we’re still here for three more days. I’m having a great time.”

It’s true that vacations rarely go entirely to plan. But Indi’s holiday so far sounds straight out of a nightmare. First a jellyfish sting, then a stomach bug, and lastly, getting raw chicken for lunch in a foreign country appears to be pure bad luck. But we hope her remaining three days bring her some sunshine and joy.
