A Single Mom From Washington Was Having Payment Issues at Her JCPenney Photoshoot. Then, a Man Randomly Footed the Bill ‘That Is a Good Man’

Skyla Stamsos (@busy_mama28) went to JCPenney at the Spokane Valley Mall for a photoshoot but ran into a payment issue. Then, a man approached Stamsos, a single mother from Washington, and she let the internet know about his supposed good deed.

Stamsos reached out on TikTok, shouting out the unnamed man. She hoped for the wife to know that he is a “kind and amazing” man for looking out for Stamsos and her son.

“I took my son to JCPenney today because I don’t have any photos of him. Like, good, professional photos,” Stamsos claimed. She said all she had were photos of her son from when he was born at the hospital. Now that he’s an infant, she hoped to get more photos of him. Stamsos got ready for her photoshoot with her son at JCPenney, and she loved how the photos turned out.

“It was beautiful, and I was really sad because all the photos came out gorgeous and I was trying to find a way where I could afford to get more photos,” Stamsos said. Although she said some packages were only priced at $14.99, she still had to use Afterpay. But then, the branch’s system started having issues, and she was informed that she could only use Afterpay online, not in-store. Therefore, she couldn’t get all the photos and had to select which ones she could get.

A man made her JCPenney trip unforgettable

“I’m a single mom. I don’t have a whole lot, but I at least wanted something,” Stamsos said. While she and the employee at JCPenney were trying to figure it all out, a man behind her stopped and spoke up. Getting approached by a random man could easily become a horror story, like in this woman’s case, who was followed into a parking garage elevator by a stranger. But in Stamsos’ case, the man asked if she needed help. The mother, confused, asked if he worked at JCPenney, and the man said no and that he was checking up on her to see if she was having a payment issue.

The JCPenney employee allegedly told the man that Stamsos was trying to figure out her payment options for the photos. “Girl, your husband—your sweet husband—asked if he could pay for my photos,” Stamsos said. The single mother shared that she had a difficult time accepting gifts and help because of all the trauma she’s had to endure. Stamsos said she was ready to refuse the help, but the JCPenney employee beat her to it.

He just wanted someone else to experience a blessing

“Yes, she would love that,” the JCPenney employee allegedly replied. Stamsos felt flustered by the gesture at first, and she found it difficult to look the man in the eye.

“He was so sweet, and he told me how cute he was,” the mother recalled, with the kind stranger complimenting her son. He made small talk with Stamsos, sympathizing with how hard it must have been for her to go to JCPenney with her son and pose for good photos. The man also allegedly reassured Stamsos, saying he was glad to pay because he wanted the family to have good photos.

“I shook his hand, and I said, ‘Thank you.’ He pulled his debit card out—didn’t ask how much it was,” she recalled. Stamsos said the man and the JCPenney employee talked about a different package and bought it for her. Before he left, the man supposedly expressed his well wishes to the mother and son, hoping the photos would turn out great.

“That is a good man,” the JCPenney employee allegedly commented. She ran after him and came back a few minutes later. Apparently, the employee tried to ask for the man’s number so she could give it to Stamsos, but the man replied that he has a wife and three children. When the employee questioned why he paid for the mother and child’s photos, he said it was out of sympathy.

“He just wanted to pass on the blessing now that he’s in a better position in life, and he knows how important it is for moms to have nice photos of their kids, and he just wanted to be nice,” Stamsos alleged. Some people like paying it forward, like this woman who offered to deep clean a “bottle house” for a grieving family.
