NYC Woman Goes to Dine at Sant Ambroeus. Then a Four-Legged Customer Interrupts Their Dinner: ‘One Look at Their Prices and Was Outta There’
Maybe he just wanted cake.

When dining at an upscale restaurant, one would usually expect pleasant ambience, good food, and amazing service. What they probably wouldn’t expect is for their dining experience to include a visit from a wild—albeit cute—black bear while enjoying their rib-eye steak at a Milanese restaurant in Aspen, Colorado.
Cami Larrain (@camilarrain), a New York City native, shared a 16-second clip that has since attracted over 444,000 views on TikTok of her recent dining visit to Sant Ambroeus, located in Aspen. In the video, diners can be seen scrambling away as a black bear cub went through the restaurant, jumped on tables, and broke dinnerware.
In the background, a man can be heard yelling “go, go, go”—although it remains unknown whether it was to the four-legged animal or the diners. Larrain’s video also showed what appeared to be a staff member confronting the young cub, seemingly using a butler’s tray stand as a shield.
Bear activity had increased in Aspen
Per the Santa Monica Observer, the incident happened on August 11 in the evening. The Aspen area had reportedly seen an increase in bear activity this summer due to this year’s dry conditions. Bears are unable to scrounge up as much food as usual, with natural food sources going scarce.
The lack of seeds, fruits, and nuts found in the wild resulted in bears visiting inhabited areas repeatedly to find food in preparation for their hibernation. City of Aspen’s wildlife coordinators have reportedly advised businesses and residents to secure their doors, windows, and garbage following reports of bears going through trash cans and entering buildings.
Encounters with the bears in Aspen have so far ended without incident, much like when a man was unknowingly being circled by a bear. However, under Colorado’s laws, bears that lose their fear of humans, resulting in repeated break-ins into buildings or the endangerment of humans due to access to garbage and feeding, may lead to the bear’s euthanization by authorized practitioners.
Aside from the dangers bears may pose to humans, towns and their infrastructure also present dangers to the bears themselves. Reportedly, a bear had been killed after climbing up a utility pole and being electrocuted—making the regulation of wildlife feeding laws a must to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
Despite the initial fear the incident may have caused the diners, many viewers were left amused by the unexpected situation. “’I ORDERED THE SALMON 20 MINUTES AGO’ – bear,” one comment read. “He just wanted principessa,” a second comment read, referring to Sant Ambroeus’ famous lemon sponge cake. Another comment joked, “How did he get a reservation?”
