Florida Teen Accuses an Older Man of Staring at Her at Planet Fitness. Then She Confronts Him: ‘Called My Mom and the Police’
A young Florida woman noticed a man watching her and took action.

A Florida teen says she confronted an older man at Planet Fitness after repeatedly noticing him watching her while she worked out. She later said she contacted her mother and police, then reported the incident to gym employees.
Sophia (@moonlitsophia1) described the encounter in an August 2026 video. In the video, Sophia tells the man she had noticed him looking at her multiple times during her workouts. She keeps the phone camera pointed at the man’s feet.
“Every time I work out, and I look up from a set, you keep staring at me,” she says. She tells the man to back up several times during the encounter.
The Video Shows the Man Providing an Excuse.
In the video, the man responds. He says he’s a trainer and sometimes watches people while they exercise. Sophia says that did not explain what she believed she had observed.
“I don’t mind if you’re a trainer,” she tells him. “But I’m not the only girl, because this is the fifth time this week that I’ve caught you.”
Sophia also says another woman had approached her about similar concerns. The conversation becomes tense as the man asks whether there is an issue. Sophia tells him to give her more space. “You don’t have to get so close to me. I don’t know you,” she says.
The man says he was only trying to understand her concern. Sophia repeats that she had not invited him over and tells him to back away. “I’m a young woman, and you’re staring at me,” she says. “You can back up now.” The man walks away.
According to Sophia’s TikTok caption, she contacted her mother and police immediately after the confrontation. She also went to the Planet Fitness front desk and showed employees the video.
Sophia said the gym permanently banned the man after reviewing the footage. She further claimed that a Planet Fitness employee told her the surveillance video showed the man had followed her before she noticed him.
Planet Fitness’ harassment policy says the company does not tolerate verbal or physical harassment of members or team members. The company instructs members who experience harassment to report it to a Planet Fitness team member or manager as soon as possible. The policy states that Planet Fitness will investigate reported violations and take appropriate action, which may include canceling a member’s membership.
The incident comes amid several other reports involving inappropriate conduct at Planet Fitness locations. In December 2025, a gym member at a Planet Fitness in Arroyo Grande, California, alerted local police after discovering a hidden phone recording her inside a private tanning booth.
Following forensic analysis of seized electronic devices, Arroyo Grande police uncovered more than 50 secret videos taken throughout 2025 of women inside the gym’s tanning and red-light therapy rooms, eventually identifying 23 distinct victims. On June 26, 2026, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office formally charged Kyle L. Combs, 40, of Grover Beach, California, with 12 misdemeanor counts of invasion of privacy and issued a $50,000 arrest warrant.
Prosecutors noted that while evidence showed dozens of additional recordings made between January and June 2025, California’s statute of limitations on misdemeanor peeping barred charges for those earlier incidents. In addition to the criminal charges, multiple civil lawsuits have been filed against Combs, Planet Fitness corporate, and franchise operators alleging gross negligence and invasion of privacy.
Sophia’s account does not identify the man, nor does it provide an official police report, and it cannot be independently verified. The Mary Sue reached out to Sophia and Planet Fitness for comment and will update this article if they respond.
