‘I’m a bit nervous’: Woman rushes into Trader Joe’s before closing. Then she finds the frozen dessert everyone is talking about

Five minutes is not much time for a grocery run. But when one Trader Joe’s shopper realized the store was about to close, she decided to give it a try.

She was not there for a full shopping trip. There was one frozen dessert she wanted to find before it was too late.

TikTok creator Aiyanna (@aiyannace) documented the rush in a video with around 19.2 million views. Her goal was to get Trader Joe’s mango sticky rice before closing.

She was on a mission

“Trader Joe’s closes in 5 minutes. I need the mango sticky rice,” Aiyanna says at the beginning of the video. She does not stop for a shopping cart. Instead, she approaches an employee and immediately asks, “Do you have the mango sticky rice?”

The answer is yes. After asking where she can find it, Aiyanna asks whether the employee has tried it and if it is good. Even though she came specifically for the dessert, she is not sure she will like the frozen version as much as the fresh kind.

“I’m a bit nervous about it being frozen cause I like the fresh kind,” Aiyanna says. “I don’t know how I feel about hot mango.” Once she finds the product, however, deciding how many to buy becomes another issue. Aiyanna initially jokes about taking considerably more than a normal grocery run might require. “Oh, can I have 17?” she asks.

She quickly backs away from that number but continues changing her order. Trader Joe’s shoppers have even found that they can sometimes open a case and buy just one individual item from it. Aiyanna, however, asks for three, then four, then five, and eventually six before deciding she was getting carried away. “Three is good. I don’t wanna be greedy,” she says.

The mango sticky rice does not remain her only purchase for long. Aiyanna also picks up pineapple coconut bars, Dubai chocolate, and guava juice. “Trader Joe’s goods have been secured,” she says afterward. “I did get a little bit distracted.”

Aiyanna says she left with three mango sticky rice packages as well as chips, jelly beans, and Dubai chocolate. The video ends before she actually tries the dessert, so her initial question about whether the frozen version is worth buying remains unanswered. “We will see if this is worth it,” she says.

Trader Joe’s is a U.S. grocery chain known for selling a large number of products under its own name rather than filling its stores primarily with major national brands. Its stores carry everything from everyday groceries to frozen meals, snacks, desserts, and seasonal products.

The company also regularly introduces new and limited products, which has also raised questions about what “limited” actually means for shoppers. Some products develop a following among customers, making a trip for one particular Trader Joe’s item feel different from an ordinary grocery run.

Viewers also noticed how quickly the employees helped Aiyanna. “Everyone’s moving with urgency I like it,” one wrote, while another added, “The fact that they all helping u as u out of breathe.” Aiyanna leaves with three packages, but without a taste test, one question remains: Was it worth the rush?

In another video, Aiyanna shared an update after trying the mango sticky rice. She says she “wanted to like” it but could not get past the warm mango, explaining that the mango was “too hot” for her taste. She still had one box left but said she did not plan to eat it and might give it to someone else instead.
