Woman sees Ninja CREAMi customer’s viral warning. So she takes a flashlight to her own, and finds something shocking inside the lid: ‘I am disgusted’

A woman saw a viral TikTok about a Ninja CREAMi having a bug infestation. So she decided to do her own investigation with her product. Then she found something horrifying that she apparently missed during routine cleaning.

Natalie (@natgents), an Edmonton-based content creator, posted a video that received more than 260,000 views online. In it, she told her audience about the now-viral post by Arriella Simons (@arriiiixo), who reportedly found “maggots” or some form of parasite inside her Ninja CREAMi’s lid. Out of curiosity, Natalie decided to fully disassemble her own Ninja CREAMi lid, only to discover an issue. 

“I saw a girl find maggots and mold in her Ninja CREAMi and I am disgusted what I found in mine…” she said.

Natalie’s Ninja CREAMi discovery

Out of an abundance of caution after seeing Simons’ video, Natalie took a peek at her own Ninja CREAMi. She told her audience that she grabbed a flashlight and examined it closely, only to discover something that’s potentially just as disgusting.

“This thing is full of mold, and I’ve only used it five or six times and bought it last summer,” Natalie said.

She then panned her camera down toward the lid, which she said appeared to have mold on it.

“I don’t know if you can see this part right here, but it is fuzzy and gray. That is mold, and it is throughout this entire lid,” she said. “You can see multiple little areas where mold is building up. And like I said, I’ve only had this since last summer, so it’s maybe been 10 months.”

The content creator seemingly lost her appetite.

“Considering I just got mine last summer and only used it a handful of times makes this even grosser,” Natalie wrote in her caption. “If you have a Ninja Creami check your machines ASAP!”

Commenters say they can’t access certain parts of the lid

Many viewers said that certain parts of the Ninja CREAMi lid weren’t accessible. They cited apparent cleaning issues, such as finding mold or bugs, within months or years of their initial appliance purchase.

Natalie herself added, “It’s not a matter of how. You can’t access those parts of the lid. I’ve soaked it with vinegar each time I use it and then put it in the dishwasher and there’s still MOLD!”

Another commenter said that no matter how they washed their Ninja CREAMi lid, mold appeared to grow back. “You are so right !!! No matter how you wash it, it grows back! This was washed and look at it now,” they said, while posting a picture that appeared to depict a Creamerizer Paddle. “This piece of metal!”

Another commenter said, “I cleaned mine every time immediately after soaked it in vinegar and STILL had this happen after a year of having it.”

Natalie replied, “It’s sooo nasty! … but no matter what I do I can’t get access to parts of the lid.”

SharkNinja’s cleaning instructions

In a previous comment to The Mary Sue, a spokesperson stated that “The CREAMi’s lid, paddle, and other components are designed to be fully disassembled and cleaned after each use, and we provide detailed cleaning guidance in the product manual to help ensure the unit stays in proper working condition.”

Customers, then, should fully disassemble their products according to SharkNinja’s instructions. SharkNinja stated that it reached out to Simons to “better understand what happened” to her appliance.

SharkNinja also provided customers with additional cleaning steps to ensure their devices are properly maintained. “Rinse the outer bowl lid, then press the paddle latch to remove the Creamerizer Paddle,” a spokesperson added. From there, customers can either wash their CREAMi’s lid in the dishwasher or hand-wash the lid using warm, soapy water and a cleaning utensil.

For detailed cleaning, a spokesperson from the company recommended “[Running] warm water through the paddle release lever and drain holes, then remove and wash the grey rubber seal underneath separately,” while the device is unplugged to ensure it’s fully clean.

Other sites, such as The Tasty Travelers, recommend using a small utensil or device to assist with cleaning hard-to-reach areas.
