Man Says He Broke His Jaw, Blew His Knees Out, and Dislocated His Shoulder, but Claims His Greatest Trauma Left No Scars
Some experiences can truly alter your brain chemistry, and this one of them.

There is an old quote from C.S. Lewis that says, “To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken,” and it seems Allen (@itsallenferrell) is living in this reality. Taking to his TikTok account, in a video, Allen listed all the physical pain he has gone through over the years, but says that it doesn’t compare to the emotional trauma caused by a heartbreak.
“I’ve broken my jaw. I’ve got my knee blown out three times. I have dislocated my shoulder. I have broken my hand. I have broken my foot, and nothing hurts worse than a heartbreak,” Allen said while wiping away his tears before noting that it is “the worst” thing he has ever gone through.
He also explained that heartbreak had paused his life for a long period and left him feeling indifferent. Additionally, he admitted he hadn’t been in a good mental state.
“Something greater is out there for you”
Allen, while expressing disappointment over his circumstances, said that he had “finally” opened up to someone, but unfortunately “ it didn’t work out.” He added, saying, “Heartbreak is no joke.”
People in the comments section of Allen’s post offered their support, with some even leaving words of encouragement. One user wrote, “It’s hard, but trust me something greater is out there for you.” Another user said, “Don’t delete this. You’re gonna look back at this someday soon and see just how far you’ve come.”
One user commented, “Heartbreak is no joke. It doesn’t just hurt your heart it changes the way you trust, love, and see the world.” Another user spoke of their own experience with heartbreak and conveyed, “4:00 in the morning, can’t sleep. Going through the same thing brother, but gotta keep it pushing. One day at a time.”
Heartbreaks can also manifest physically
A breakup can lead to more than emotional distress. It frequently causes physical symptoms that people can actually feel. Clinical psychologist and professor Dr. Sabrina Romanoff, in an article published by Very Well Mind, notes that breakups affect the mind and body of a person in a similar manner to when experiencing the “death of a loved one.”
She states, “When that powerful attachment relationship ends, our nervous system becomes dysregulated, and we experience the perils of isolation, abandonment, and rejection, which in primordial times would be a matter of life or death.”
Emily Mashburn, LMHC, identifying how breakup symptoms can manifest physically, highlights that they can cause anxiety attacks, stomach-related problems, fatigue, and changes in eating and sleeping habits. Romanoff adds to it, mentioning that breakups can cause “psychomotor vegetation and agitation (a state where a person experiences fluctuations in brain activity like restlessness, fidgeting, fast-talking, or the opposite.”
Romanoff also says that these physical symptoms can sometimes be so debilitating that people can begin losing their hair, experience weight gain or weight loss. They can also undergo hormonal changes and have reduced dopamine production.
Considering these serious effects, Allen’s way of coping with heartbreak is understandable. Many of us might not handle it as well as he does. However, it’s also true that not everyone is emotionally devastated after a breakup. Sometimes it’s necessary, and occasionally, it can even lead to a significant positive transformation.
