Texas Woman Buys Charmin Toilet Paper at H-E-B. Then Gets Shocked When She Opens It: ‘I Can’t Make This Up’
She bought toilet paper from H-E-B.
A woman just wanted to use her toilet paper in peace, but instead, seemingly learned something new about the bathroom staple. Texas-based content creator Judy (@judyyyyyheartssss) shared a video on her TikTok that claimed she found mold on the toilet paper she bought at the supermarket H-E-B.
In Judy’s video, she claimed that she went to an H-E-B store located in Burleson, Texas, and purchased a pack of toilet paper from the brand Charmin. According to Judy, she had already used one roll of toilet paper from the pack when her instincts allegedly urged her to check the remaining rolls.
“Something told me to check the toilet paper this morning,” Judy said before panning the camera to show what appeared to be fuzzy gray spots on the toilet paper. “That s*** looks like mold. I cannot make this s*** up,” Judy stated.
Mold poses a health risk
Judy said she felt upset, especially after only finding out about the toilet paper’s condition after she had already used it. While Judy didn’t find her entire room covered in mold, her concern is still understandable, as it may pose a health risk to individuals.
Being around mold can lead to some individuals having a sore throat, stuffy nose, red or itchy eyes, wheezing, and coughing, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In cases when mold comes into contact with skin, individuals may experience a skin rash. And for those with mold allergy, asthma, or who are immunocompromised may have severe reactions to mold.
While toilet paper is a “non-perishable” item and can last for years, it isn’t immune to mold when not stored properly. According to Sarah Day, a storage expert, the bathroom is allegedly the “worst place” to store such items due to the lack of proper ventilation and humidity—creating the perfect environment for mold to thrive. One woman even discovered mold in an unexpected place—her washer.
H-E-B replaced the toilet paper
Some viewers were surprised to learn that mold could grow on toilet paper, while others urged Judy to return to H-E-B for a refund. “Ion think I’ve ever seen mold on ish paper!” one comment said. “Lord we have to check everything!”
Some had advised Judy to reach out to Charmin’s company, Procter & Gamble, and report the incident. “Most definitely reach out to the company. They will ask you for the product date to see what city and state it came from came from,” a user said. According to Judy, she returned to the store and got her pack of toilet paper replaced with a new one. It is unclear whether she reached out to the company.
