A Dog Walking Like a Human Has Made the Internet Uneasy for Months. Now Everyone Just Wants to Hug Her

Scooby-Doo has nothing on this girl.

The internet is full of videos that freak people out, and a dog named Fiona has become the latest to join that category thanks to the bizarre way she walks. Posted to the TikTok account @thefionawalks, Fiona’s owner has spent the last few months sharing clips of her strolling down the street just like a human.

When the clips started appearing back in spring, many viewers were convinced it was fake, perhaps like some of those fake celebrity polaroids or that this is someone in a costume pretending to be a dog. A dog simply walking along on two legs like a commuter heading for the bus didn’t compute.

Other users suggested their fears about skinwalkers and werewolves were coming true. The account didn’t shy away from the horror-leaning comments, even soundtracking some of the clips with the theme from Jaws. One comment called the sight of Fiona “terrifying in the best way”, another said “that is horrifying”, and one wondered “Do other pedestrians fear you?”

These paws are made for walkin’

The initial unease at the sight of Fiona walking like a person transformed into fondness over the following months. The more videos posted on the account, the more people grew used to the unusual sight. Most users simply wanted to see which patch of her neighborhood Fiona would go strolling along next.

Not everyone’s reaction has been about loving or fearing the dog, with some raising questions about whether walking on two legs could cause problems for Fiona. Several people have commented that moving in such a way could put unnecessary strain on her spine, hips or joints, but the videos show no suggestion of this. While some dogs do occasionally “stand up” on their hind legs and others have been trained to “dance” on talent shows, it is clear from the videos that this one is capable of walking like a human.

Fiona’s owner hasn’t addressed these questions, but new videos of the dog’s latest walks have continued to be added to the account regularly. In each new addition, Fiona continues to jauntily walk down the street and is seen attentively viewing her surroundings.

The videos of Fiona have clearly found an audience on TikTok, with the account accumulating over 22 million views and 144 million subscribers. Those numbers are also growing each day as more people discover the channel and find something to brighten their day.
