The nature of many packaged grocery products is that shoppers do not always know what is inside until they actually open them.

That is especially true with something like hot sauce, which is usually dark in color and often covered by a shrink-wrapped label that can make the inside of the bottle even harder to see.

One Walmart shopper, however, was forced to take a closer look at her Crystal Hot Sauce when she tried to use it, and nothing came out. Something was blocking the opening.

TikTok creator Lori (@_lul.baabbyy_333) filmed the foreign object while it was still inside the bottle, then decided to break the bottle open to see what it was. Her videos have gotten over 235,300 views.

What Did This Walmart Shopper Find Inside A Crystal Hot Sauce Bottle?

“So y’all know I’m not [expletive] crazy,” Lori says at the start of the video.

She says she had just bought the hot sauce from Walmart the day before. Then, when she tried to use it, the sauce would not come out.

“Something was like, it wouldn’t let it come out,” she says.

So she started tapping the bottle in the sink. That is when she noticed something inside.

“There’s something [expletive] in here, and I don’t know what it is,” she says. “I’m irritated as [expletive].”

The video shows something stuck inside the bottle near the top. Lori points the camera at it and says it looks like it may have eyes.

“What the [expletive] is that?” she asks. “Are those eyes?”

She Breaks The Crystal Bottle Open

In a follow-up video, Lori breaks the Crystal bottle so she can inspect the object more closely.

“I’m so scared, y’all,” she says. “I don’t know what I’m about to see in this bottle.”

After breaking it open, she finds the object among the glass and hot sauce.

“I don’t know what that is,” she says.

The object appears to be a skin-colored lump, roughly the size of a grape. However, it’s difficult to tell what it is.

“What the [expletive] is that?” Lori asks again.

This Is Not The Only Report Of Something Strange

Lori is not the only person who has posted about finding something strange inside a Crystal Hot Sauce bottle.

On r/hotsauce, one Reddit user posted a photo of what appeared to be fungus inside a Crystal bottle. They also included photos of other bottles in the store that appeared to have similar material inside.

Another person posted to r/mildlyinteresting after finding what they described as a foreign body inside a Crystal hot sauce bottle. The attached photo showed some type of white growth or object inside the bottle.

A third Redditor on r/hotsauce shared photos of what looked like a similar situation to Lori’s. In that post, two bottles appeared to show lumps floating near the top.

Crystal does not appear to have issued a public statement about Lori’s video or those Reddit posts. The Mary Sue has reached out to the company via email and Lori via TikTok messages for comment. We’ve also requested comment from Walmart via contact form.

Commenters Were Unsettled

In the comments, viewers were disturbed by the video.

“This is why the FDA is super important to have!!!!!” one commenter wrote. “So scary!! Too many recalls on food, we now fear eating anything we purchase. smh”

Another viewer questioned where Lori bought it.

“Why are yall still buying groceries at Walmart,” they wrote.

Others said the mystery made the situation worse.

“Ewww the fact that it’s not recognizable makes it even worse,” one commenter wrote.

Another viewer was done after seeing it.
