Baltimore Woman Asks for Birthday Discount at Jersey Mike’s. Then She’s Allegedly Told to Get Out and Then Cursed At: ‘Going to Have a Whole Lawsuit’
Worst birthday ever.

A Baltimore woman is threatening legal action against a Jersey Mike’s outlet after a confrontation with an employee. The employee, David, allegedly cursed at her and told her to leave when she asked for a birthday discount. The incident, captured on video by the woman, who goes by @domeafavordntdomenofavors_ on Instagram, went viral. It shows David repeatedly using profanity and dismissing her request in a way that left her feeling humiliated on her birthday.
According to the Daily Dot, the video begins with the woman pressing David to repeat what he had said earlier. “Say what you said. Who are you talking to?” she asks. When he confirms he told her to leave, she pushes him to say it on camera. “You said get the f— out, right? Say it now. Say get the f— out,” she demands. David complies, saying, “Get the f— out.”
The exchange quickly escalates, with David growing more dismissive. “Broke a– is turning to $4, $10. F— off,” he tells her. The woman ties his comments to her birthday, saying, “Uh-huh, because it’s my birthday and I asked for a birthday discount.” David’s response is blunt: “I don’t give a f— if it’s your birthday. F— off.”
The woman warned David that he could lose his job
She says, “Watch you lose your job, David. This is how I get treated on my birthday at Jersey Mike’s.” He says, “F— your birthday. Yes, ma’am.” The confrontation doesn’t end there. The woman threatens legal action, telling David, “You’re going to have a whole lawsuit. You got the right one to play with.”
When she asks to speak with a manager, David identifies himself as the manager on duty. She mentions calling corporate, and he claims he’s already contacted them, offering to let her speak with them on the phone.
The video wraps up with the woman asking for a receipt and questioning whether David remembers her order. His response is dismissive: “I don’t remember faces like that.” The woman tells David he’s “very lucky” multiple times. Another staff member later steps in to apologize. She declines the apology, saying it isn’t necessary.
The video has sparked mixed reactions online
Some commenters defended David, arguing that service workers shouldn’t have to tolerate hostile customers. One wrote, “Who wants to work in these service industries and be berated and treated like s— from this person and other customers. There should be a law that when you go and you disrespect an employee… we don’t have to take the abuse.”
Another commenter said, “I often got free meals on my bday but that’s bc I was a constant customer in the establishments. And I never demanded it like that. They decided to give me a free meal.” Others sided with David directly, with one commenter urging Jersey Mike’s not to discipline him for his language, given how he was treated.
In her first post on Instagram, the woman described the experience as “utterly disgusting,” especially since it happened on her birthday. She explained that she had simply asked to redeem a birthday reward offered through Jersey Mike’s app, something customers are encouraged to do.
“After I asked for a receipt, an employee responded by saying that he ‘doesn’t remember faces,’ which came across as dismissive and disrespectful,” she wrote. She also claims she was called “broke” and subjected to “rude, hostile, and unprofessional behavior.”
The situation escalated to the point where other customers left
“No customer should have to experience this in an establishment that is supposed to be welcoming and provide good customer service,” she wrote. She contrasted her experience at Jersey Mike’s with other businesses she visited that day, where she had no issues redeeming birthday offers or being treated with courtesy.
“This location’s behavior was completely unacceptable, deeply upsetting, and left me feeling embarrassed, humiliated, and disrespected on what should have been a special day,” she added. She tagged Jersey Mike’s corporate account, local news outlets, and other organizations in her post, indicating she plans to pursue legal action.
In a follow-up post, she shared a screenshot of the birthday freebie she was asking for. “If you didn’t know whatever apps or stores you’re signed up for on your birthday they will send you freebies as well,” she wrote.
She listed several places where she had no issues using her birthday rewards, including Maryland Live Casino, Starbucks, Tropical Smoothie, Dunkin’ Donuts, Sephora, and Ulta. “I didn’t have this problem with my $150 food credit from any restaurant at Maryland live casino,” she noted, emphasizing that Jersey Mike’s was the only place where her request was met with hostility.
At the time of writing, Jersey Mike’s had not issued a public statement. Rumors were circulating online that David was fired, but these claims have not been confirmed. The woman tagged the specific Jersey Mike’s location where the incident occurred, which is at 2424 Distillery St Ste 4 in Baltimore, Maryland. She encouraged others to tag Jersey Mike’s and share her posts.
This incident raises questions about customer service expectations
Many restaurants and retailers offer birthday freebies or discounts as a way to build customer loyalty, but the policies can vary by location. Some places require customers to sign up for a rewards program or app, while others may only offer discounts to regulars. In this case, the woman claims she was following the process outlined by Jersey Mike’s app, only to be met with hostility.
The videos have reignited the debate over how customers and employees should treat each other. Some argue that customers should always be treated with respect. Others say service workers often face abuse and should not be expected to tolerate it. The incident also highlights the power of social media in holding businesses accountable. A single viral video can put a company in the spotlight, forcing them to address issues that might otherwise go unnoticed.
