Woman Gets Assaulted at the McDonald’s Drive-Through. Then They Fire Her and Said It Was Because She ‘Always Wanted Window 1′

A McDonald’s worker who claims that she was fired after being assaulted while working at the drive-thru window has spoken out against her former employer on TikTok. The woman said that it was her first job and she didn’t realize at the time that what she went through was assault.
Phoebe Eaton shared her story on TikTok where she claimed, “I got assaulted at maccies then fired for it.” In the video she explains that she was working through her probationary period at McDonald’s. She claimed that the feedback from her trainer had been very positive and that she enjoyed working at the drive-thru window 1 where she could talk to customers.
McDonald’s hasn’t had a great track record with staff in the U.K. but things seemed to be going well for Phoebe. She was hopeful that she would be able to pass her probation and keep the job. However, after a week of working in window 1, she encountered one angry customer who would not only knock her confidence, but physically assault her.
Phoebe explained that a glitch with her window meant she could not change a customer’s order from the app, upon hearing this the customer became enraged. Things only got worse after the payment timed out as the customer accused Phoebe of trying to charge them twice. At this point they reached through the window and grabbed her by the shirt.
“He grabbed me by my top, by my top! And he was like’who the f— do you think you are!’” Phoebe claims. All she could think to do was try closing the window on his arm. Afterwards a manager arrived and defused the situation, getting the customer to leave.
Phoebe loses her job
After the assault Phoebe continued to work in window 1. However, she states that she suffers from a stutter, something she’d made her employers aware of prior to being hired, and the trauma of the attack resulted in her stuttering more than usual.
When the time came to end her probation Phoebe was told that she would not be kept on at the McDonald’s. When she asked for an explanation she was told that her always asking to be on window 1 was a big reason. However, Phoebe denies this as she claims the manager “kept on asking me to go back into window 1 and I wasn’t going to say no.”
Phoebe has since realized that what she experienced was assault and that her employers had not only failed to support her, but practically fired her because of it. She was understandably frustrated after realizing the unfairness of it all but viewers still recommended she take action. “It doesn’t matter how long you have left it please report it and sue,” advised one commenter, while another told her she could “claim an unfair dismissal” if something like that ever happens again.
