TikTok user @katehallwilson posted a video on her profile, saying that since people online liked to bully her, she would give them a good reason to do so. She pointed out that the story she was about to tell is one of the few happy memories she has of her mother. Kate recalled that when she was 19, she and her mother went to the beach. She mentioned that they stopped at Waffle House for breakfast, where she ordered hash browns that were extra smothered and extra covered, which she explains means “extra cheese” and “extra onions.” After that, she said they walked to the nearest Alvin’s Island, where the main incident occurs.

TikTok user @katehallwilson speaks about an incident involving her mother

TikTok user @katehallwilson posted a video on her profile where she shared a positive experience with her mother. She recounted that when she was 19, she went to the beach with her mother, wearing a hot pink swimsuit. She also said they had breakfast together at Waffle House, where she ordered hash browns with extra cheese and onions. Afterward, she mentioned taking a 15-minute walk and visiting Alvin’s Island with her mother.

At Alvin’s Island, Kate says in her video that her stomach started “rumbling” and “bubbling,” which made her feel uncomfortable right away. She added that she didn’t pay much attention to what was happening at first and went to the T-shirt section. However, she says that as time passed, she felt something in her swimsuit and asked her mother to pull it to check if what she sensed was true. Her mother apparently didn’t find anything, but Kate said that the feeling did not go away.

Kate emphasized that there was no restroom accessible to customers at the outlet. She also said that with no other options, she decided to “pick a wedgie,” and then saw “dookie” on her hand. In her video, she explained that, unsure of what to do, she rubbed her hand on a nearby T-shirt. She also said that she called her mother to tell her what had happened, and apparently, she urinated at the spot. Regarding the incident, Kate said, “So not only is there Dookie on the T-shirt, but there’s pee on the floor. And this is from two different people, not even the same person, just two different people on the same aisle. Pee-peeing, and poo-pooing, Hee-heeing and Ha-haing.”

Kate finished her video by saying that after the incident, she told her mother they needed to leave as soon as possible, and they did.

Some facts about IBS that people should know

According to IFFGD, here are some facts about Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) that everyone should know:

  • It is estimated that globally, 5-10% of people have IBS.
  • Most people with IBS are under 50, but many older adults also suffer.
  • The precise cause of IBS is unknown. Symptoms may occur from a disruption in how the gut, brain, and nervous system communicate. This can lead to changes in normal bowel movements and sensations.
  • Stress alone does not cause IBS, but due to the brain-gut connection, it can exacerbate or trigger symptoms.
  • IBS can vary from a minor inconvenience to a debilitating condition, affecting many facets of an individual’s emotional, social, and professional life. Those with moderate to severe IBS often face symptoms that impair their physical health, emotional stability, financial situation, education, and social interactions.
  • IBS is unpredictable. Symptoms can change and sometimes contradict each other. Diarrhea may switch with constipation. Long-term symptoms can interfere with personal and work life and limit a person’s potential.
  • Treatments exist to help manage IBS symptoms, but not all are effective for everyone. Ongoing research may lead to improved options. Despite its prevalence, many people with IBS do not seek medical care for their symptoms.
  • According to a survey by IFFGD, nearly 2,000 patients with IBS reported that their diagnosis was usually made 6.6 years after symptoms first appeared.
  • Four out of five individuals identified pain as the primary factor influencing the severity of their IBS.
  • About 20 to 40% of all visits to gastroenterologists are for IBS symptoms.
