On December 29, 2025, TikTok user @anyaweitz uploaded a video highlighting how JetBlue had lost her luggage while she was availing their services to fly to Florida. As she highlights in her video, because of what JetBlue did, Anya was left with no clothes, making it hard for her to go out. She also mentioned that, since all her makeup was in her checked bag (the one the airline lost), she couldn’t meet some of her work needs as a beauty creator. She said she planned to film makeup videos while she was in Miami, Florida, but wasn’t able to do them because of what happened.

TikTok user is demanding accountability from JetBlue

As previously mentioned, on December 29, 2025, TikTok user @anyaweitz uploaded a video to her profile in which she discussed the difficulties she was facing since JetBlue Airlines lost her luggage. She explained that after arriving at Fort Lauderdale airport around 4 pm, she waited for her luggage, but it never arrived. As she states in the video, after two hours of waiting, she approached the gate agent to inquire about her bag, and they told her it was still in New York, her point of departure.

Anya mentions in her video that she paid $200 for the bag that was never loaded on the flight. She also said that when she asked for a refund, she was denied and offered a $30 credit, which didn’t even cover a fraction of her expenses. Anya then says she was instructed to call a number, where she was told her bag remained in New York and would be put on the next flight out, arriving in Fort Lauderdale at 9 pm, and that it would be delivered to her hotel by noon the following day, while also promising she would receive updates.

In her video, Anya notes that she is filming on the same day she expects to receive her luggage, that it is already 8 am, and that she has received no updates from the airline. She also mentioned that when she called the airline, they allegedly told her they had no idea where her luggage was and that it had not been scanned onto any flight.

Talking about how losing her luggage was affecting her, Anya said in her video, “By the way, I have nothing. I’m in a towel because I literally only have the outfit that I came into on the plane. That’s dirty. My hotel does not have laundry. I’m literally like, sitting here naked.” She added, “I have to order Uber Eats because I can’t go outside like this. I paid over $1,000 for these flights to Miami. To do what? Sit in my hotel and do nothing?”

Anya also mentioned that when she asked the airline if she could buy things since she didn’t have most of her belongings, they told her she could have $100 each day her bag was missing. Regarding the amount they offered, Anya says in the video that it wasn’t enough. Speaking about how the whole situation was affecting her work, Anya said., “This is how I do my business with my makeup tutorials. I don’t have any of my makeup. You guys know how expensive makeup is. I cannot film anything. I can’t post anything, preventing me from doing business.”

Anya also mentioned that she had bought a lot of clothes she planned to wear during the trip, but she couldn’t because her luggage was lost. She also said she received a lot of makeup as PR, which she wanted to show her audience, but couldn’t due to the situation.

Your feelings are so valid!!” User @kiimm0201 said, “look through the policy ur supposed to be compensated for EVERYTHING in that bag.” User @linen_pants stated, “When your bags get lost you can buy essentials and then provide the airline receipts to get a refund.”

Baggage mishandling rates have allegedly decreased

A recent article by Aviacionline reports that the global mishandled baggage rate decreased by 23% in 2025, reaching 4.9 bags per 1,000 passengers. The total number of mishandled bags also declined by 19%, down to 24 million, despite airlines transporting 200 million more passengers than in 2024. The article further states that baggage mishandling cost the airline industry US$ 6.3 billion in 2025, which accounts for roughly 15% of the sector’s total net profits, as detailed in SITA’s annual Baggage IT Insights 2026 report.

The study also revised the economic loss parameter, now estimating the average cost per incident at US$ 260, up from the previous benchmark of US$ 150. With an average net margin of US$ 8 per passenger, a single bag loss or delay negates the profit from selling over 30 seats, and five such incidents completely wipe out the flight’s profitability.
