Fan on Fan Crime Happened Outside ‘Heated Rivalry’ Star’s Paris Hotel

Once again, the Heated Rivalry fandom is in the news, and it isn’t good. Star Connor Storrie, who plays Ilya Rosanov in the wildly popular queer hockey series, is in Paris currently for YSL during Fashion Week. As is a common practice for celebrities in these settings, fans will wait outside of their hotels to see them when they leave. As long as fans are respectful it isn’t usually a big deal.
That, however, was not the case in this situation. While fans were waiting hours for Storrie, a particularly popular–and polarizing one–was spotted among them. Club Chalamet, or Simone Cromer, was notorious online for being obsessed with Timotheé Chalamet. However, she has since moved on after Chalamet became public about his relationship with Kylie Jenner and is now following Storrie.
She is widely regarded among the online community as a stalker, but has yet to do anything truly dangerous. Still, her presence quickly went from being seen fondly as someone harmless to being despised and dreaded. One fan in particular took ire with her being outside of Storrie’s Paris hotel.
X user @mikadontyoudare kept a live tab on things as they began escalating. “Fck. clubchalamet is here. Tf do i do,” they wrote. Later, they quoted their post and said, “So um, just had a fight with club chalamet.”
So it seemed like they had taken matters into their own hands, despite security being around. And indeed, in their retelling, they saw that Cromer was about to rush Storrie and decided to forcibly pulled her back themselves.
The internet backlash
The responses across X have been entertaining, to say the least. When you look at it, neither fan is truly in the right, because both were waiting outside of a celebrity’s hotel just to see them. And I do want to stress that that is not inherently a bad thing. However, it does not give you the moral high ground that mikadontyoudare thought they had.
One user said, “I can’t get over yesterday’s stalker on stalker violence. The nonbinary Parisian is still rambling, meanwhile miss club has moved onto the next stop of her European tour.”
It raises the conversation about what, exactly, is morally correct in this instance. Yes, I know, it’s just fandom drama, but bear with me. This is far from the first time the Heated Rivalry fandom has caught the attention of the media. Numerous articles have been posted about it over the past six months. Why is it so prevalent in a fandom like this?
With fandoms like Heated Rivalry‘s, which had a meteoric rise alongside the show, some of it can be attributed to growing pains. Age of the fans is also a factor, along with the parasocial relationships with celebrities that have come about due to social media. But as the months have gone by, this fandom does not seem like it is going to be involving any less drama any time soon.
Club Chalamet’s side of things
Cromer posted her recounting of what went down. In her version, she was innocent, and mikadontyoudare was the aggressor. She posted what was said to her by mikadontyoudare: “‘I know who you are. I know who you are, bitch. You *****!’ And she tried to remove my ******* dermatologist recommended fucking SPF mask from my ******* face.”
Further issues happened when the crowd swelled in the evening. People began leaving the hotel, and fans rushed forward. Both subjects of this story were included in that rush, which is a natural, if unfortunate, side effect of such crowds.
According to Cromer, she was “moving along with the crowd.” In mikadontyoudare’s retelling, Cromer was rushing forward. There have not been any other eyewitness accounts to successfully back up either side.
I cannot stress this enough: Let the security guards do their jobs. That is what they are there for. This isn’t a citizen’s arrest moment! Whatever happened to minding our own business?
