‘She Absolutely Did That on Purpose’: Woman Marches Her Mom Back to Goodwill After She Gave Away Daughter’s Clothes That Weren’t for Donation
It’s always good to donate unwanted clothes and items to charity but some people’s parents can get a little overzealous when it comes to giving away their children’s old things. One woman on TikTok whose mother donated her entire Winter wardrobe decided to put her foot down, marching her mother back to the Goodwill she took them to in order to get everything back.
Abby filmed herself and her mother on a Wednesday afternoon walking through Goodwill searching for her clothes. In the caption she explains that they were “searching the Goodwill for the bin of clothes my mom donated that were all my Winter clothes that weren’t for donation.”
She can be seen looking through the racks of clothes, pulling out items and saying “this is mine,” while laughing, seemingly in disbelief. At one point she pulls out a sweater and shows it to her mother, telling her, “there’s the sweater you told me I didn’t wear.” Her mother trees to protest but Abby carries on, taking clothes she recognizes and putting them in the trolley.
As the mother and daughter walk back to the car an argument breaks out between the pair as the mother insists that Abby told her all of the clothes were for Goodwill while Abby denies she ever said that.
TikTok thinks the mother gave the clothes to Goodwill on purpose
Viewers on TikTok weren’t about to give Abby’s mom the benefit of the doubt. “I’m gonna hold your hand when I tell you this….she knew,” wrote one person. Another stated “she absolutely did that on purpose.” before sharing a story of how their own mother accidentally donated their old toys and “RAN to goodwill right away,” before profusely apologizing.
Abby’s mother doesn’t exactly seem sorry in the clip which is what has led many to believe it was an intentional act.
In a second video Abby explained that she was able to phone the manager who called a higher up who okayed her to come to the store and pick up the stuff that was hers. She also explained in the video that she had left her clothes outside her room to take up to the attic. There were also two boxes of clothes for donation nearby which Abby had planned to take to Goodwill.
Her mother who, according to Abby, was sick of the clothes in the hallway, decided to take the clothes to be donated herself without checking with her daughter first. Apparently her mother even took Abby’s prom dress out of the clothes that weren’t meant to be donated yet somehow didn’t realize that those clothes were never supposed to go to Goodwill.
In any case, Abby was able to get most of her clothes back with a few remaining elusive. Thankfully she didn’t have to pay for the clothes as prices have been rising in the charity shop recently.
