MVP of Widow’s Bay This Week Is Rosemary

Every episode of Widow’s Bay highlights yet another amazing member of the Widow’s Bay community. And this week, it was Rosemary’s (Dale Dickey) time to shine.

Season 1, episode 9 titled “Emergency Shelter” dealt with the aftermath of Tom (Matthew Rhys) and Wyck (Stephen Root) not successfully ending the curse of the island. Patricia (Kate O’Flynn) helps the two navigate what to do next as a huge storm threatens to blow into the island, forcing Tom to shut things down.

But it also leads to Patricia, Wyck, and Tom trying to figure out who the one remaining member of Richard Warren (Hamish Linklater) lineage is. The woman with the answers? Rosemary. And it is just as frustrating for Tom and Patricia as you’d imagine. Wyck is kind of used to it.

Imagine talking to your mother about something and you need her to explain it to you quickly and instead of just telling you the information you need, she goes back to Plymouth Rock. Rosemary took absolutely no hints from Tom telling her to hurry up and kept taking her time and it lead to one of the greatest comedic moments on the show yet.

To be fair, she did put a lot of work into the family tree so I don’t blame her for wanting to make sure they get all the information they could possible need. Then again, Rosemary was doing it for the drama of it all. Especially because it led to one woman who was older in town that she had a picture of. So she really did not need to take all that time.

Honestly Dickey should get an Emmy for the sheer amount of time she said “dead baby” alone in this episode.

Part of what is so funny about Widow’s Bay is that everyone in this town, essentially, lives with the curses and doesn’t care. It is Tom trying to bring tourists to town that makes everything fall apart. So Rosemary using her information to hold court and make everyone listen to her? Kind of iconic. Especially when the result is Wyck and Tom contemplating killing an old lady to end the curse.

And who knows, maybe the 20 dead babies and 5 lesbians will come in handy as the team decides what to do next to save their town. Then again, they have already tried to cut off the head of the Warren line by bringing Richard Warren himself off island and that didn’t exactly work.

So will Mayor Tom and his group of ragtag misfits finally fix Widow’s Bay and end the curse? Who can say but we do know that Rosemary will have a projector presentation set up and ready to go if anyone asks her about it.
