Is Gina Carano Going to Go on a Media Tour About Losing to Ronda Rousey Now?

In what appears to be the shortest fight in Netflix history, Ronda Rousey beat Gina Carano in one round. It was unexpectedly brief—and social media has been memeing the whole event.
Social media has been savage about Carano’s takedown. Rousey skillfully took control and locked Carano in an armbar, which prompted the latter to tap prematurely. The fight lasted 17 seconds. Arguably, the two athletes hugged longer than they’d even fought.
Before taking her long career break, Rousey was notorious for making her opponents submit—Carano made the deadly mistake of bringing the fight to the ground. If Rousey’s win teaches anyone anything, it’s that the fundamentals of grappling can end a fight early. Carano, on her part, recklessly threw a kick that was caught by Rousey. Once Rousey made Carano submit, the fight was over before it started.
One commenter wrote, “This could have been an email.”
Someone joked, “RIP to the people who went to the bathroom during the first 20 seconds of this fight.
Another social media user alleged, “They’re both smiling and hugging at how easy the money was without getting hurt.” There are no highlights here and barely any blood. The promotion for the event had been so hyped, only for the fight to unexpectedly end so abruptly.
Is Gina Carano making a comeback?
Carano, who lost after a humiliating takedown, shared a few messages on X.
“My heart is heavy, I wanted to throw, battle, win, but I kicked when I should have moved and was down and done. If I hadn’t tapped she would’ve broken my arm, as it had begun to crackle. The disappointment of losing like that is very humbling,” Carano wrote on X. She hasn’t been in the ring since 2009, after she was KO’d by Cris Cyborg, also within just one round. Her fight with Rousey has been her first in a decade and a half, and she has been humbled yet again.
Despite the loss, Carano also took the time to praise Rousey. She wrote, “I found a beautiful woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister and legend. I adore you lady.” It doesn’t seem like she plans to dwell on the loss against Rousey so heavily.
But it seems that the ex-MMA fighter will be making a full-blown comeback to fighting. She mentioned, “I needed to go through this fight to implement permanent lifestyle changes and now I feel like this is just the beginning. I can’t wait to see where I can push my body to go next.”
Beaten out of the entertainment industry
Carano seems to be pivoting back to her fighting roots after she was fired by Disney after starting in The Mandalorian in 2021. The MMA star infamously made a series of strange posts on social media. Notably, she implied that conservatives during COVID-19 share the same plight as Jewish people during Nazi Germany.
Her post reads, “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their neighbors hate them for simply being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”
Upon checking, no conservatives were rounded up and sent to concentration camps. Everyone was merely told to mask up to prevent the spread of the disease and to protect the immunocompromised. Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that she’s going back to fighting and not becoming a motivational podcaster of sorts.
