John Mulaney’s RFK Jr. Bit is One Of His Best Yet

John Mulaney has proven to be one of the best voices in comedy. From his wild recollections of his non-sober years, his childhood antics, and life now that he is sober, Mulaney really seems like he’s just getting started. And while he is not a comedian known for political takes, it appears that he is just as frustrated with the people in charge as we are.
Mulaney, who has currently been performing his “Mister Whatever” tour (which will hopefully have a Netflix special), took a quick detour. Night of Too Many Stars, a May 7 show at the Hollywood Bowl, was part of Netflix’s weeklong Netflix Is A Joke festival. Hosted by Jon Stewart, it featured Mulaney alongside a slew of comedians such as Conan O’Brien, Bill Burr, Steve Carell, and Adam Sandler.
During his set, Mulaney turned his sights towards RFK Jr., the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Beginning with a wavering, gravelly impression, he goes on to talk about RFK Jr. being in charge of the Riverkeepers, an organization in New York whose function is to keep the Hudson River clean. Obviously, he didn’t exactly do a great job.
And yet, Mulaney says, “Now he’s in charge of your BONES and your TUMMY. Stupid f*ck.”
Following up his frankly pretty great impression of RFK Jr. with an emphatic insult is only partially what makes this entire bit so great. He’s taking the shots without pulling back, even when the audience seems lukewarm. And god, is it beautiful. Mulaney continues to prove himself as a multifaceted comedian.
RFK Jr. might need some ivermectin after this
“sorry he sincerely is one of the funniest guys alive,” said a user on X in a quoted post on the video that has been going viral.
Another user pinpoints exactly why many of us love Mulaney: “something about the way he speaks just tickles my brain in a way that almost no other comic does.” It really does. He has a specific rhythm and delivery that just makes certain lines stand out.
Mulaney is also one of the few comedians who is currently willing to target Republicans in such an openly disgusted way. Honestly, the absolutely unbridled hatred that radiates off of him in this clip is just perfect. He’s speaking for all of us in that moment.
Mulaney also addressed the rumors of RFK Jr. cheating on his wife, Cheryl Hines (“Like a dog”). Though those rumors have been unsubstantiated, would it truly be so far-fetched to believe them? Especially since Mulaney, along with other comedians, have been enlisted to perform at charity events for RFK’s Waterkeepers Alliance.
“Sorry for the pearl-clutch here,” he said in response to the crowd reaction, a pre-groan. “Sorry to drop that public-domain information on the Hollywood Bowl.”
