‘My chickens are smarter than RFK Jr.’: Between accessibility of resources for Americans and Trump, RFK Jr.’s pick is the latter

RFK Jr. is doing what he does best: refusing to take responsibility, and, while doing so, also taking a moment to praise Trump, even though the situation demands the opposite. On Wednesday, RFK Jr. appeared at a Senate hearing and was repeatedly grilled by Democrat members over his perceived shortcomings in his role as United States Secretary of Health and Human Services.
In one of the moments from his hearing, which has become quite popular on social media, especially X (formerly Twitter), RFK Jr. can be seen deflecting questions about rising grocery prices under the Trump administration and how it affected the general population by stating that prices of certain items had decreased under Trump’s presidency, something that Senator Maggie Hassan, who was questioning him on the topic, claimed to be untrue.
RFK Jr. resorts to praising Trump when asked about grocery prices
RFK Jr.’s Wednesday Senate hearing was brutal, to say the least. As previously mentioned, each Democratic senator took the time to call RFK out on his shortcomings in managing his departments and sought accountability for his actions.
One of the issues he was asked to explain was the rise in grocery prices under the Trump administration, which was making it very difficult for ordinary people to afford the same. Senator Maggie Hassan brought up this topic, asking RFK Jr. if he believed high grocery prices made it harder for families to buy “fresh” and “healthy” food. RFK did not give a direct answer and instead mentioned that beef prices had dropped by 1 percent. His claim prompted Hassan to respond that beef prices had actually risen by 20 percent. RFK Jr., defending Trump, accused Hassan of blaming Trump for something he did not do.
Senator Maggie Hassan exposes RFK Jr.’s hypocrisy
After RFK Jr. falsely claimed that grocery prices under Donald Trump had decreased by 1 percent, Hassan was not willing to let him off easily and continued to question him.
She displayed a placard showing a photo that RFK Jr. had previously shared, which depicted a shopping trolley and claimed it was the “most expensive vehicle to operate in 2023-2024.” RFK Jr. initially tried to dispute this, but was left without words after Hassan pointed out that there was proof he was the one who posted the picture. Next, Hassan asked RFK Jr., given the current grocery prices, if he would be inclined to upload a picture like that again, prompting him to ramble on about how grocery prices have decreased.
